Jasper's pov.

Unfortunately, we didn't get a break. I was visited by elders and I'm going to be put through a trail. They are picking six wolves to help determine whether I go to jail or not. They did promise to leave me alone if I wasn't jailed though, so if this trail goes good nothing else should go wrong. I'm just worried about if the trail goes bad.

I don't think I could be separated from Hazel that long. How is Hazel going to handle this if it goes wrong? She is fragile and I can't stand the thought of seeing her sad. This is all because her stupid old pack had to ruin everything. The only reason I regret killing them is because now I must deal with a trail. The next three days go by agonizingly slow.

I tried to keep myself busy but nothing worked. I waited for the elders to come get me since I don't know where they want to hold the trail. Soon a wolf runs up to me and tells me the elders are waiting at the bear tooth cave. I arrive and the three elders are standing in the back of the cave while the six wolves were split into two groups.

One on the left and the other on the right.

"We are gathered here today to go through a trail for Alpha Jasper. We have picked you six wolves because you are neutral. We will provide information and it's your job to decide innocent or guilty. Alpha Jasper will have a time after each statement to defend himself. Any questions?"

They all shook their head.

"Then let this trail commence. Jasper is it true that you intervened in a rogue's business?"

"Yes. I intervened because I knew the girl was my mate and it was no fair match."

"Would you please show the wolves the images of that fight?"

I opened my mind link and showed them what happened the day I found her.

"Next, is it true that her old pack came looking for her and asked for you to hand her back over?"

"Yes. They came but her old pack was abusive and she didn't want to go back."

"Show them what happened."

I showed them that morning they came over and she came down and yelled at them.

"Is it true that you crossed another packs territory without permission?"

"Yes. I only crossed to get my mate back. They stole her from me and severely injured her."

This time I showed them the fight, me crossing to get her, and what she looked like when I found her.

"Finally, is it true that you killed another Alpha and took his wolves?"

"Yes. I killed the Alpha because I didn't want him coming after my mate again. I did not take his wolves. I gave them a choice whether they wanted to join me or not."

I showed them me killing the Alpha, killing the wolves that tried attacking me, and finally me telling the wolves whether they would join or not.

"With that you have all the information, now choose your verdict."

I could tell they were mind linking one another and after about half an hour of silence they look up at the elders.

"The verdict is in. You are found...

guilty.

"You will serve a life sentence in jail."

My whole world came crashing down before me. I just lost everything I fought so hard to keep. I would never see my mate again, I would never see my pack again, and I would never see the moon again. I felt life draining from my body already. I was helpless to what came next.

The elders put silver cuffs on me and one walked in front of me while the other two walked behind. As we were walking I couldn't bear to see my mates face.

"Jasper?"

"I'm sorry."

"No! You can't leave me, you're the only one who has ever loved me!"

"You will find a way to move on. Please just live for me, don't let anyone bring you down."

They started walking me away and I see my Beta who is trying to hold her back.

"Please! Don't take him away!"

I listened as the sounds of her cry faded the more we walked. I kept me head hung down as my mood suddenly dropped. We arrived at the prison and I am walked down to my cell. Moon goddess if you can hear me, take care of my mate please, find a way to keep her happy.

Every day after I felt my mind slipping, I felt anger building, I could feel myself losing the battle with my mind. Soon all I could think about was getting out. I needed my mate and no one was going to stop me. I grabbed the silver door and ripped it off ignoring the pain.

I stormed through the prison until I came outside. I shifted into my wolf and started running. I didn't get far before I was surrounded by wolves. I growled and let my anger show, they all growled back. My wolf went crazy and attacked them.

I felt myself getting weaker as more scratches and bites were landed on me. I thought of my mate and pushed with a new burst of energy. There were just too many wolves. One of the wolves got a bite close to my neck and soon I fell to the ground as I felt the life slip away. One day my mate, we will be together again.

I know it's a sad ending and if you would like an alternative ending that is happier type the word waffles in the comment section. I need at least three waffles before I make the happier ending.
