My eyes darted to the person who just walked through the door. It was the girl. I wanted to know more about her. This time I wasn't letting her get away.
But she did.
This girl walked up, had ordered a drink, then left with a flash. One of these days I'm going to have to find out what's going on here.
"Something wrong Jen?" Grace had a hint of curiosity and a dash of worry in her voice.
"Ya everything is fine. I just realized that I have to get back to my dorm. Lots of homework to do!" I replied.
Grace and I walked out of the cafe and said our goodbyes. On the walk back home was beautiful. The sky was beautiful painted with crimson reds and citrus oranges. Maple trees stood straight as soldiers along the cobblestone path that led to the dorms. They hinted fall was just poking its head around the corner and their leaves just barely had started to turn color. I es so busy enjoying the campus when all of a sudden I heard voices that seemed to be coming from someplace to the right of me.
"...can't u do anything right!?!? Do I have to remind you what will happen if you don't listen to me!?!" One of the voices sounded angry and tense.
" I'm sorry I really am. It's just.... well... um..." A shyer more fragile voice spoke.
"I DON'T CARE!! DO IT OR YOU'LL BE SORRY!"
That's when I accidentally strapped a stray twig and blew my cover. I sprinted away as fast as possible, not even looking back to see who it was. Drama was the last thing I needed right know.
Back in my dorm I took a warm shower and started my homework. I pulled out my Social Studies textbook and started taking notes on the Middle Ages.
Elizabeth walked in half an hour later with food. All of a sudden my stomach growled. I haven't eaten since 2:30 or so where I just grabbed a granola bar on my way to the barn.
"Where have you been?" Elizabeth asked,"You missed dinner so I brought some here for you!"
"I went to that cafe with someone from the barn after my tryouts. Then had to get some homework done and that's when I completely forgot about dinner! Sorry for scaring you," I said to her.
"Hmmm I forgive you but we have to go to the cafe together next time!" We both laughed and Elizabeth returned to her homework while I munched away on the hamburger she brought up.

The week flew by quickly and soon it was Thursday afternoon. Grace sat with us at the lunch table now and out "group" kept expanding. Brittney and her entourage were annoying as ever since the team placements would be announced tonight. I could barely hold in my excitement. Yet the nerves were creeping up on me like a spider.
One class was left to the day and then I was going on a relaxing trail ride with Grace and Doc. All I had to do was get through science. Easy because Grace and I were in the same science class and sat right by each other.
As I walked into the class I sat at my desk and got out my science notebook. All of a sudden someone came and sat to the right of me. I peered over; expecting to see Grace, but instead saw a boy with mocha brown hair and sky blue eyes. Moments later, Grace sat at her desk. She saw me sneak a glance at this mystery boy and immediately gave me a go-and-talk-to-him nudge. I rolled my eyes at her. Thankfully our teacher saved me from any more encouragement and asked us to take out our homework.
The final bell rang and I rushed to get out of the classroom. Mystery guy snuck me a smile as I left and Grace saw me blushing straight away.
"Omg you totally like him,"she squealed once we were out of his earshot and outside.
