I wake up throw a take top and put a light, loose fitting shirt on with nice loose shorts. I put my hair into a high pony tail and grab my climbing gloves. My father gave them to me when I was young, they were to big then but I grew into them. The material is leather and the fingers are cut off. It helps your palms with traction, I grab my backpack and walk to my car. I drive to school and head over to the School's gym. All the tributes had to come at eight o' clock. It was seven thirty but I wanted a good stretch. I throw my bag down and start to stretch. After I stretch my arms I start on my legs. I bend over to stretch my left leg when someone smacks my butt. "Hey, Miles." I say without even looking up.
"Hey, babe." When I stand back up he throws his arm over my shoulder and kisses my head.
"How'd ya know I would be here?" I ask him, grabbing the water bottles he hands me.
"Because I know you, you like to stretch it out before you do anything athletic."
"Yeah, that is true. So will u be watching?" I ask him.
"Yeah, what's awesome is that for P.E. we get to watch you guy's on tv instead of exercising. So you better still be in the game. You remember our strategy?" he asks me.
"Yeah, I remember. Don't worry I'll stick to the plan. I'm gonna shoot something, to get my adrenaline pumping." I grab my gun load it and start to shoot the bird out side. I hit about five in mid-air seven on the ground. I continue to stretch I run up and down the gym and do some cartwheels too. If you think this is weird then you should see me before one of my volleyball games.
I finally work up a good amount of sweat and sit down beside Miles.
"What time is it?" I ask.
"7:50."
"Okay, any more advise?" I ask him helping him up.
"Know who the enemy is," he gives me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Good luck, Lauren. I'll see you after you've won the games." With that he gives me another kiss on the cheek and leaves. I start doing more cartwheels until a decent amount of tributes show up. When I stick my landing I am face to face with Mason.
"You had a pretty decent Games," he says chewing on a fruit roll up.
"As did you, Mason." I say wiping my head on a cloth towel.
"How long have you been stretching and exercising?"
"About half an hour. Why?"
"Nothing, you look pretty dry for the most part."
"Thank you?" I ask.
"Do you already have an ally?" He asks me.
"No, I'm flying solo. Sorry."
"No need, I was just wanting to protect a pretty face like yours." He did not just say that, I think.
"Excuse me?" I ask setting my hands on my hips.
" I just meant I wouldn't want you to get your hopes up because disappointment hurts."
"Listen here you jerk,-" I say poking his hard chest.
"-Alright tributes gather around!" Mrs. Hal shouts. I leave Mason and go over and stand by Jillion. I don't see Mitchell but I don't really care.
"The rules are the same, but you are not aloud to say cuss words. SENIORS! I'm talkin' to you. We will circle you up around the park and we will count down. Smile, your on camera for the count down. The whole school will be watching from the auditorium. Good luck and 'May the odds be ever in your favor' Lets go!"
After they line us all up I put my gun in my belt loops securing it with my belt. I pull my leather gloves down my wrist so they feel tight and I face the other tributes. We all are facing Mrs. Hal and Mr. Ceiling from where they stand, in the middle. "5... 4... 3... 2... 1!"
