You left.
You turned your back.
When you promised you wouldn't
For the longest time,
I couldn't trust.
Because of you.
It was darkness.
A color between black and grey.
I was a dismal, depressing color.
Promises shattered like glass.
The sting of betrayal.
Trust that couldn't be put back together.
Maybe it wasn't you that changed
Maybe it was me.
Maybe I had grown up
While you stayed the same.
And while you stayed the way you were,
I learned and grew
And saw more.
I understood more.
And knew what you had done.
I couldn't believe it
Or I didn't want to.
And while you betrayed us,
I turned away from you.
Maybe it was me who walked away.
Because of you.
