"Alright princess, which story do you want mommy to read tonight?"

"This one mommy!" Nicole pulled out her favorite book.

'Love You Forever' "Aww, i haven't read this one to you in a long time."

"I found it under my bed. Please mommy!" Nicole gave her the old never fails puppy pout.

Caroline is a big sucker whenever someone gave her that look but boy Nicole sure did put the tattoo on her forhead.

"Hehe, okay okay sweetie. No need for the puppy eyes, of course mommy will read it to you. Scoot over a bit." Nicole made room for Caroline then getting cozied up next to her.

"A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth." Caroline playfully but gently rocked Nicole back n forth as they laughed.

"And while she held him, she sang:
I'll love forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be."

Several pages later, Nicole was fast asleep in her mother's arms. Caroline read the final page while she gave her daughter one last rock.

"Then he went into the room where his new baby daughter was sleeping. He picked her up in his arms and very slowly rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while he rocked her he sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be."

After Caroline was done she placed the book next to Nicole as she quietly slipped out of her embrace and then tucked her in. She gave one last loving look at her sleeping daughter before turning off the light except for the night light and gently closing the door behind her.

As soon as she reached her room a big thunder shook the house.

"MOMMY!! DADDY!!" Nicole bolted out of her room and jumped into her parents bed shaking and crying.

"Oh baby girl, it's ok you're safe. Thunder is nothing to be afraid of." Martin tried to reassure her but Nicole was too petrified to listen.

Nicole hugged him tight "Please daddy, you talk to thunder right? Tell it to go away, please!"

Caroline got into bed with them, "Oh honey, daddy can't talk to the thunder but he does understand it."

"That's right and it says that it will be gone by the time you wake up in the morning."

"But i don't wanna wait till morning i'm scared!" Nicole continued shaking.

Caroline and Martin looked at each other and came up with an idea. "Nicole honey, have we ever told you that everytime there's thunder, fairies and angels come down to earth."

Nicole came out from under the sheets "Really?! You mean like the Tooth Fairy?"

"That's right but they will only appear if you're sound asleep."

"Just like Santa!" Nicole said excitingly.

"Uh huh, remember you still have that little tooth under your pillow. So the Tooth Fairy may just stop by to leave a little token for you."

Nicole was about run into her room to get it but then Caroline remembered she already left a quarter in there, "Oh no no honey, it needs to stay under your pillow otherwise she will think it's someone else's."

Nicole was a bit dissapointed, as she thought she would be able to catch a glimpse of the tooth fairy. So she climbed back into bed getting all snuggled in between them.

Just before she fell asleep. "Mommy."

"What is it, baby?" Caroline mumbled half asleep herself. While Martin was already out like a light.

"Can you sing me that song, the one you used to hear all the time when you were smaller."

Caroline instantly knew the exact song she was talking about. Usually she would only sing it to her daughter whenever she was feeling sad or sick. Sometimes she would even sing it to herself whenever she or others were feeling the same.

"Sure honey."

After a moment she began to sing softly:
"Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...

If you Smile
With your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just...

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just...

Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...

If you smile
Through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just Smile...

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just Smile"

Finally Nicole was sound asleep. Caroline kissed the top of her head before getting out of bed to get a glass of water. As she was getting her water she got lost in her thoughts.

"Oh Michael I remember you used to always sing me that song everytime i was feeling down I just wish i could've sang it to you once while. Maybe you'd still be here if i did."

Before she could make it back upstairs. There was a very loud thunder and lighting strike that not only shook the house but a huge crashing sound which came from her room.

She quickly ran up and opened her door only to find nothing but ruins with Martin and Nicole nowhere to be seen.

I can't tell you how much i hate myself right now for ending it like this but if i had to write one more chapter about this happy family it would've been whole lot harder to write the tragedy of it.
