Sirens of the firetrucks, ambulance and squad cars were nothing compared to the screams in Caroline's head and the shattering glass in her heart. She could barely contain her tears and breathing. Her thoughts were yelling what just happened and why over n over.

The police say that the lightning struck the tree next to her bedroom and crushed both Martin and Nicole to death in an instant. The only thing they could find was the book Caroline read to her.

Not to long ago she told her daughter that angels come from lightning and thunder. She looked down "No" she thought "No! That was just something I made up to help her with her fear!"

As soon as Caroline looked up she saw the coroners carring two body bags. As if time had slowed down then suddenly stopped as she watched her husband and daughter dissapear behind the closed doors of the van.

"I'm very sorry for your loss mam." The cop looked at her and briefly placed a hand on her shoulder before walking away.

After what seemed like an eternity she gazed up at the dark cloudy sky thunder shaking her surrounding. At that moment something inside Caroline snapped.

"Is that it then, huh?!" Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared as if she lost her mind!

"I did everything you put me on this earth for! I listened, I comforted, I wept, I sacrificed, I never broke any promises, I never gave up, I always did my best! Haven't I suffered enough before hasn't everyone suffered enough! What the hell did i do all this for then?! You sent me an angel before then you took him away from me when you know damn well i could've saved him! Now you take my own and only family cause of one little fib?! Or did i just reveal a little secret of yours by accident?! Well then to hell with you and to hell with you Michael!!"

Struggling to catch her breath and tears coming down non stop. Her legs gave and she scoffed "I always told those in need that life always has meaning. Now i see we're just pawns in your so called never ending game of life." Some people gasped, some just looked away and some felt sorry for her. But Caroline felt nothing anymore.

What little strength she had left she picked herself up and walked far away as possible. From that point on for the next 6 years Caroline sunk to her very lowest.
