I looked up Adamssteet 63 this morning when I woke up, it's just a old storage building. I wonder who it could be. Well guess I will find out in two days. What can go wrong? Except for everything. "Thea! Over here." I hear Nate shout and I see him standing next to Connor and Caleb. I decided to walk over there. "Where did you guys go yesterday? I didn't see you." I say and Connor looks up at me. "We had a important meeting. I'm sorry we should have told you." He says and Caleb nods. "It doesn't matter." I say and smile. "Hey guys." I hear somebody say and I turn around and see the guy who walked into me before standing there. I think his name is Casper. "I'm sorry I walked into you and then blamed it on you, I had a bad day." He says and I see how Nate stares at him. "It's okay. I'm sorry I kneed you in the balls." I say and smiles. "You said it was Peter." Nate says and looked at Casper. "Well I didn't want you to go mad at her because I walked into her." Casper says and Nate looks angry. "I can't believe you, I missed the deal for that. " He says and Connor roll his eyes. "Here we go." Nate takes a step forward so he stands right in front of Casper. "You have to fix this mess, or else we're screwed." Nate spits in Casper's face. "Calm down I will fix it. Just don't tell dad." Casper says and Nate backs away. "We have until tomorrow." He says and Casper nods. "Family stuff." Casper says when he realises that I'm staring. "You're brothers? You don't look like it." I say and Casper and Nate laughs. "Yeah, nobody can tell." Casper says and I nod. I see how Gabriel sneaks up behind Nate. "Gabriel you owe me cake." I say and he start to back, but I grab his shirt and he stops. "I want my cake." I hiss. "Okay, I will get you one at lunch." He says and Nate laughs. "Good." I smile and let go of him. "Remind me to never forget to give Thea cake." Connor laughs and Gabriel puts with his mouth. "I didn't forget, i hoped that she would have forget." He says and Nate laughs. "How could I forget cake?" I ask and Gabriel shrug. "Bad memory?" He asks and I laugh. "I have the best memory." I see how people start to go to their class rooms and I'm about to go to but Nate grabs my arm. "Come on, let's skip." He smirks. "Why not." I say and shrug. Charlie will get me out of trouble if necessary.
"Are we there yet?" I ask and Nate sighs. "Not yet." Nate is driving and I'm sitting beside him. Gabriel and Connor is in the back. Casper and Caleb had some important test so they couldn't skip with us. "I'm hungry." I say and Nate sights. "Okay we can stop here and Gabriel will buy you cake." He says and point to a bakery. "Cake!" I scream and Connor laugh. "Okay choose which cake and they shut up." Nate says. "I want the same as last time." I say and Gabriel nods and jumps out of the car. "I will be right back." He says and jogs towards the store.
"When will he be back?" I sight. We had been sitting here for thirty minutes already. "I don't know." Nate said and I sighed again. "It doesn't take thirty minutes to get a cake. What is he doing?" The bakery door opened and Gabriel stepped out looking annoyed. He walked over to the car and opened the door. "What took you so long?" I asked as he handed me my cake. "They had to make it. Luckily I could fix so they did my order before the others." He said clearly annoyed. "Who doesn't have chocolate cake? Like everybody have it." He said as Nate started the car. "Don't spill." He said and I nodded. " do you guys want some cake?" I asked with my mouth full. And Connor immediately putted his hand next to me and I gave him a bit. "I want one too, but I'm driving so you have to feed me." Nate said with a smile. "Here you go." I said and gave him the bit I had eaten of before. "Thanks Thea." He said with a smile.
"What are you doing this Friday?" Nate asks as he pulls up to the school. Because the cake took so long time we couldn't do anything because we all had to be back for a gathering. "Well I don't really know yet. I need to meet a person at five but after that I'm free." I said remembering the mystery text. "Good, we're going to a party." He said as we walked to the big meeting room. Seems like I don't have another choice. I had to run to get beside Nate. "What should I wear to this party then?" I asked, knowing I didn't have much party clothes. "Girls and their clothes." He rolled his eyes. "Just take something. It's nothing formal, just a high school party." He said. We were sitting besides the other guys in the front of the room and I can see Charlie stepping up on the stage. "Hello students. My name is mr Stewart, for those who don't know. I'm the headmaster here at Lockwood high. I'm here today because there has been rumours that some students have been seen doing drugs. And I will not tolerate that. If you see someone doing drugs, you will immediately come to my office and report it." Charlie says and I can barely stop myself from laughing. I know that Charlie knows that nobody will say anything and that Charlie took drugs before. "Okay, I'm just kidding." I was right. "No drugs. Drugs are bad, I once woke up married to a crazy bitch and a drug hangover. So don't do drugs, that's bad. But I'm actually here to relive this theme to the homecoming dance." Homecoming? I feel how I'm starting to panic. It's okay Thea. Breath. It won't be as the last time. "Okay so this year's theme is." There was a drum roll. "The 1860's." he said and everybody started to clap. Why are they clapping? It makes everything worse. "Don't you like to dance?" Nate whispers in my ear and I shake my head. "No, I haven't had the best experience with homecoming." I say and I can see the image from last years dance. The screaming, the gasoline smell, the smoke and Ryan and Lindsey dragging me away. "Are you okay?" Gabriel asks. I haven't noticed that he is standing beside me. "Yeah, I'm good. I have to go to the bathroom." I say and run out of the room. I can't stay here. I don't stop running until I come to my car. "I'm sorry Thea, I should have warned you." Charlie says. He must have seen me run out of the room and followed me. "It's okay Charlie." I give him a small smile. We're standing beside my car. "No I can see that it's bothering you. You can take the day off if you want to. Next time I will warn you before we talk about the homecoming." He smiles. He's one of the only people who knows what happened, and why I left and came back. "Thanks Charlie. But it's okay. It just came as a surprise, that's all. You don't have to worry. I will be fine." I say and he gives me a hug. "If you change your mind and you want to go home anyway, just come to my office and let me know." He says and I nod. "What happened with you don't want anyone to know?" I ask and he laughs. "You're more important Thea." He say as we start to walk back inside. I see Nate, Gabriel, Caleb, Connor and Casper standing in front of my locker and I take a deep breath. "There you are." Caspar says and I smile. "Yes here I am. I just had to go to the bathroom." I lie. "How did your tests go?" I ask Casper and Caleb. "Bad probably." Casper says and Caleb nods. "I hate math, and I'm no good at it." Caleb says as the bell rings. "Bye guys." I say as they start to go to class. "Are you coming?" Gabriel asks and I shake my head. "No, I don't feel good, I'm going home." I say as the others walk away. "I know that you're lying, you're not feeling bad. Do you want any company?" Gabriel asks and I nod. "Sure, I just need to fix a thing. I will be right back." I say and starts to go to Charlie's office. I knock three times on the door and then Charlie opens. "Did you change your mind?" He asks and I nod. "Yeah, I'm going home. My friend Gabriel will come with me." I say and he writes down it on a paper. "Okay, thanks for letting me know." He says and gives me a hug. "Give this to your teacher." He says and gives me the paper. I walk away from the office and goes by the classroom on the way back to Gabriel. I open the door and the teacher looks annoyed. "You're late and you're interrupting my lesson. Haven't you heard about knocking?" She says clearly annoyed. "Take a seat." She says and points to a empty seat. "I'm actually here to give you this." I say and hands her the paper, and then I walk out of the room. Gabriel was standing at the same spot As when I left him. "Come on, let's go." I say as soon as I get closer to him. "We have to go to your house. My dad has a important business meeting in my house." Gabriel says as we start to walk. "Sure." I say with a fake smile. Fuck.
"I know it's you Thea." Gabriel says as we're sitting in my car. "I would recognise your eyes everywhere." He says. "I can't believe I missed it at first, but I realised it was you this morning. Nobody says anything more until we're in my room. "Why did you leave?" He says, and I can hear that he's close to cry. "I can't tell you that Gabe." I say using the old nickname I gave him when we were four. "Wasn't because of me?" He looks up at me. Tears are forming in his eyes. "I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't mean it." He says and a tear streams down his cheek. "No it's not that Gabe. You were right. I'm stupid. I almost got myself killed." I'm also start to tear up. "I left because of them. They convinced me. I'm sorry. They are the reason I came back. I-I didn't want you to know. I thought it would make everything harder, that you would be mad." I cry. "It's okay. I'm not mad." He hugs me. Great, now we both are crying. "I shouldn't have called you stupid and I shouldn't have let you go with them. I'm sorry Thea."
After crying and talking for a hour we decided to get something to eat. "I want waffles." Gabriel screamed and as we ran into the kitchen. "Miriam isn't here so we have to do them ourselves."I said and opened one of the cupboards looking for the waffle maker. "Look in the room over there for the mix." I said pointing to the pantry. After five minutes we both found what we were looking for. "Do you know what to do?" I asked Gabriel as he was whisking something. "No idea. I'm just reading what the packet says. We need to heat the waffle iron." He said and I looked at him questioning. "How? Do we like put it in the oven or something?" I asked and he laughed. "I have no idea. Let's try it." He said as he put the waffle iron in the oven. "Wait!" I screamed out. "There's a cable here." I said and pointed at a black cable that was around the iron. "Right. That what they meant." He laugh. "That could have gone really bad." He plug in the iron in the wall and when it's hot he start with the waffles.
"Thea!" He screams. "I don't know what to do. The waffle is burning." He screams. Perfect. Everything went okay until I go to the bathroom. "Try water." I scream back. "Thanks." He says and the electricity goes out. "I think I might have made it worse!" He screams and I run to the kitchen. The iron isn't burning, but it's electric coming out of it. "Fuck. Water and electricity don't go well together. We learnt that in first grade. How could I forget?" I scream as the fire alarm starts. "They don't?" Gabriel questions. "I didn't pay attention on that lesson." He says and I shake my head. "You never did. How do we turn of the alarm?" I laugh. "I have absolutely no idea." He says and I can hear fire trucks in the distance. "That alarm goes straight to the fire station." I say remembering what they told me when we installed it. "Oh god. We can't even cook waffles, how are we supposed to survive life?" Gabriel questions as he slides down on the floor. "I have no idea." I say taking a seat on his knee. "Miss Petrova what's the problem?" A guy says as soon as he enters the kitchen. He must be one of the firefighters. "We were making waffles and they started to burn, and then we poured water on them." I explain and he starts to laugh. "Okay. Water and electricity don't go well together. But you might have noticed that." He laughs. "We will send someone to fix the electricity. Have a nice day." He says and then he walks away. "So do you want to go to some restaurant instead?" Gabriel asks and I nod. "Yeah, I'm really hungry." I laugh and he lifts me up on his back and then walks to the car.
"So Thea, are you coming to the party on Friday?" Gabriel asks when we have eaten up our food. "Yeah. Nate asked me to come." I smile as the waitress comes back with our exchange. "Have a good day." She smiles as we walk out of the restaurant. "Good. I will pick you up at eight." He says and I nod. "What do you want to do now?" Gabriel asks as we take a seat in my car. "I don't know." I answer and starts the engine. "We can go back to your place." He says and wiggle his eyebrows. "Sure." I laugh.
