"Did you guys um...glimpse death?" I asked as my eyes went from Violet to Jared to Chang to Lucas and Chang again.

"Chang? What are you doing?" I looked at Chang who was at the moment trying to balance a pencil between the bottom of his nose and his upper lip. I don't know why he was doing this but I couldn't help but laugh when his pencil partially went up one of his nostrils. I knew he was going to sneeze, and oh hell when he sneezed you would want to be anywhere but near him. I took my position behind Jared and

"A.aaa...achoooooooo" Chang sneezed.

"Ew, I don't even want to know what's on my pant right now" Lucas said, trying to move his thigh as far as possible as though he could somehow detach that part from him.

"What the hell man?" Jared looked at Chang and then moved closer towards Lucas to look at the sticky goo that just came out of Chang's nose.

"This is not going to happen" Violet said ever so suddenly.

That brought me back to the first question I asked. Before, when I entered Andrew's lab in the basement I knew something was wrong. Their faces had that look, The-I-Just-Glimpsed-Death-Look.

"Would someone tell me what's wrong?" I asked, specifically looking at Jared.

"The blood sample.." Violet said

"Yes?" I urged her to go on.

"The bacterial test..."

"Okay.."

"We need..."

"Violet, honestly speak whole sentences" I was a tad bit annoyed right now.

"The samples, and the tests" She said again.

I was about to comment on it again, but Jared beat me to it.

"We need to access Andrew's lab" His voice cut through the atmosphere making it serious.

"Well, we are in his lab right now aren't we?" I asked, I was getting confused by the minute now.

"No, his lab, in the BOLT institute. The one where all his restricted experiments are carried out" Jared stated plainly.

"Is he serious?" I scoffed to no one in particular.

"He wouldn't let us access those labs ever, since according to him we are only college students doing some research work in the summer." I continued

"I know that Nicole, what I mean is that we'll have to break into his lab." Jared looked at me

"Yup, he is completely mental" Chang finished it for me.

"But why?" I asked

"Because we don't have real blood samples from this time" Lucas filled me in, but that was something I already knew so I waited for him to completely state his opinion.

"We only have the blood samples we brought from home. The ones, with the dead sickness virus. The ones we need to match with blood samples from 2015. Moreover the resources in this lab are far more limited. His restricted area I hope will have all the tests. It's worth the risk" He completed.

I looked over to the microscopes kept on the adjoining table. I knew he was right. The sickness virus was THE MOST DANGEROUS pathogen our species ever experienced. We have seen what it does, to individuals and families. The sickness virus was the cancer of our time.

We were sent here to find the origin of the the virus, to find it's whereabouts and to exterminate it. We highly suspected that it was the year 2015 where it all started. We even had evidence. But so far we weren't making any progress, every minute counts as the future is indecisive.
