Chapter 1:The news

Aiden's point of view.

I hope she likes it but more importantly I hope father will accept my decision and will stand by me. I make my way down the eerie hallway that leads to fathers office and stare at the wooden door contemplating how these next couple of minutes can either make my day or destroy my life.

I gain the courage and knock on the door waiting to be let in. A moment later my fathers loud groggy voice is heard "come in" he calls. I walk in towards the chairs that are placed before my fathers desk and take a seat looking at everything but my father, this is so awkward my mind says. After a minute of awkwardness my father clears his throat, earning my attention and then that's when I look my father in his eyes and see the tiredness and stressed look. I Never knew being a mafia leader could cause you to look so tired. I thought you had people who took care of all the work my mind told me. Okay yeah I have a habit of talking to myself so what get over it everyone does it.

"What's wrong son?" My father finally breaks the silence. I look down at my fingers fiddling around thinking how the hell was I going to break the news to my dad. I don't really talk to my father much so this is really weird for me. I once again gain the confidence and raise my gaze to my father and look him in the eyes and say "I wanna get married to Brittney".

My father spits the cigarette that he placed between his teeth just now and looks at me with wide eyes. "Did you just say you want to get married to brittney?" My father repeats still clearly trying to process what I just said. I nod my head yes and just look at the floor admiring the beautiful colour, note the sarcasm. Since when did you get so nervous about marriage get yourself together. Your Aiden Ryder a mafia leaders son for goodness sakes my brain tells me. I look up to my father once again and he replies with"No".

"No?" I repeat clearly surprised by his answer. "Yeah I just said no. You know honestly I didn't take you for a guy who wants to settle down." Father comments." But you like Brittney I don't get it." I reply completely confused. " don't get me wrong she's nice but she's not wife material I honestly thought she's just a fling."

With that I suddenly stand causing my chair to fall and hit the floor with a loud thud." I'm sorry father but I really like her and-" my father cuts me off with "sit down son" my father raises his voice which instantly makes me sit. Just because I listen to him don't take me for an obedient person it's just you don't wanna get on the wrong side of my father.

"You will not be marrying Brittney because I have set up an arrange marriage with the daughter of the Kincades" my father simply states. "YOU WHAT!!" I shout surprising my father and my self too since I have never used this sort of tone with him.

"Don't you raise your voice with me boy, remember who I am. This arrangement will not only bond our two families together but also it will be an alliance to make the two of our gangs stronger.This arrangement has been made when you were quite young and oh, don't even think about breaking this marriage because not only will you have to face Oscar Kincade but also me" my father explains.What the heck!

My father turns away from me clearly tell me that this conversation is over. I abruptly stand up and leave my fathers office and purposely slam the door behind me to show to my father that I don't agree with his decision.

I can't believe what he just said he's using me for an alliance. I storm down the hall towards my room with only two things in mind 1. It looks like I'm going to have to return this ring and 2. If I can't break this marriage it looks like I'm going to have to get my fiancé to be the one to call it quits.
