Wiping my mouth, I could see him watching me once again. Had it been a day that I was not in trouble, I would have been looked back and called him out for it. But I ran from my husband so now I must be careful.
Flipping through the menu, I let my eyes wander from each combo to the next. Really I was in the mood for some Chicago style pizza but my husband knew that I crave that pizza.
Finally my waiter, Sharron emerged from the back and made her way over to my table with a goofy lopsided grin. Popping her gum lightly she whipped out her notebook.
"Well sweetheart, what would you like today?" She said ready to scribble down whatever would come out my mouth. Internally I cringed at the nickname. Axel would call me that after I did something or said something he didn't want. Then he would grab my cheek very roughly and warn me. Shaking the feeling of unease I smiled up at the waiter and closed the menu. The man was going burn a hole through me and the wall behind me if he kept staring.
"Yes ma'am, I would like the Jack Daniels steak and a sweet potato. With sweet tea to drink." I said holding my lips back from ordering the hardest and darkest drink they had.
"Will that be all?" She asked me looking over her glasses at me. My stomach turned painfully and dropped.
"Yes ma'am, and can I get it to go. I'll pay now." I said squeezing my thigh under the table with my hand. I grew sick on realizing why the man was staring so hard. It had been one of my husband's rivals.
My husband had a clean cut record when I met him and such a pure heart. After getting married he turned into the devil after 7 months. He began hiding stuff from me. He would come home all hours of the night and he would smell of cigarettes and alcohol. At first I thought he had been out blowing the money we had and sleeping with cheap women but really he was dealing with world of drugs and women.
Gee whiz aint I the lucky wife. Stuck between my husband and all the body bags he put there, I decided I couldn't live this way anymore. The life of those who have been on the wrong track just want forgiveness.
Running away from him seemed like the right idea. Until now of course. The devilish man stood from his seat smoothly and slithered over my way. His blonde hair was cut back away from falling in his face and his fierce green eyes stayed glued on me. His stand was tall and lean dressed out in dark hues of blue. My heart jumped to my throat as if running from me would save her. Itching to scream, I kept my mouth shut and blew air roughly out of my nose. My eyes followed him as he sulked closer. The stench of money, greed, and want was ramming it's way up my nose. Suddenly he slid into the seat next to me.
Grabbing my hand from my lap, he brought it to his lips. My skin crawled with a distaste and goosebumped in fear. My stomach turned roughly and pinned my lips in a thin line across my face.
"What a pleasant surprise." He said sarcastically, flashing his overly white teeth at me. Not changing my face, my eyes bored into his.
"Yes, very pleasant." I said before tipping my water into his lap. Ripping my hand from him, I glared at him as he returned the stare angrily. He was basically seeping with wrath. It usually was a slow quiet boil. I had ignited the whole damn forest fire.
Reaching out he gripped my cheeks painfully between his thumb and forefinger.
"Watch were you tread little one. I would hate to take Mr. De laufs wife." He said threatening me.
"Oh would you just go to hell." I swore ripping my face from under his hand. He didn't come alone.
