OVER 2,000 WORDS

Narrator's POV:

Nathan was walking down the hallway of the girl's dorms looking for a specific room. Meanwhile, he was trying to avoid notice from Victoria. If she saw him here she would flip. Somehow, he forgot the room number, but managed to figure it out based on the slate. It was a nicely drawn image of a camera.

'Yep, that's Y/N.' Nathan thought as he knocked on the door.

Y/N opened the door a few seconds later. Her h/c hair was pulled into a messy bun (or down if you have short hair) and her e/c eyes sparked as she saw who was at the door.

"Hey Nathan! Come on in!" She greeted excitedly as she opened the door further for him to enter.

Nathan had never seen Y/N's dorm before, but what he saw was not what he expected. He expected a warm atmosphere in a well-lit room that was not too colorful, while not being dull. What he saw was a dorm that was completely darkened. There were little to no decorations, the entire wall across from the window was furniture-less. To top it all off, the only window in the room was covered with a garbage bag like tarp.

That was the main thing Nathan could not fathom. Y/N had always loved the view from her window. She randomly received a rather nice one... so why did she cover it? Nathan's eyes roamed the room questioningly. Nothing in here seemed like her, but there she was, standing before him, smiling brightly. The door closed behind Nathan and he became submerged in darkness. The room was completely without light. His eyes eventually adjusted, due to the light coming from he tiny glow-in-the-dark stickers.

"Sorry for the dark. Had to make sure it was light proof. The light switch is behind you." She said. Nathan could feel the slight wind of motion resulting from Y/N turning away from him.

His hands reached the wall behind him, but Nathan couldn't feel a switch anywhere. His face flushed as he moved faster, hoping to find it quickly before he could look like an idiot. A moment later, he heard a soft giggle and footsteps. The sound of a switch flipping could be heard as the lights turned on, flooding the room in brightness. After Nathan's eyes adjusted, he realized exactly how close he was to Y/N. This caused all of his blood to return to his cheeks. He could swear that he saw the same rosy hue on hers. The two shared a short and incredibly awkward laugh before quickly separating.

To say that Nathan had a slight crush on the girl was not a complete lie. Yes, he did have a crush on her; however, Nathan had long ago accepted the fact that it could no longer be considered small.

"What did you need, Nate?" Y/N asked.

"I came to bring back your photography notes. Thanks, by the way."

On Monday morning, Nathan was not in the mood to see Mr. Jefferson, talk to him, or be within a fifty foot radius of that man. The only reasonable thing to do was to skip class; so that's what Nathan did. He asked Y/N if he could borrow her notes, and she instantly handed them over. No questions asked. Whenever this happened, she just assumed that he overslept; and that's exactly what he was going to let her believe. If she knew the truth, not only would she never speak to him again, she would be afraid of him. To Nathan, that was a fate worse than death.
