“I said let me through! I am a Praetor Of The Senate and I have the right to enter that room!” Laurent Faraa’s voice carried through into Eresmai’s Command Centre and a still shaken Raine turned to look at the door. There was a gust of wind and Faraa, whose hand was outstretched, closely followed by Yasmine and a group of guards entered the room.

“Since when did a Praetor have to resort to using his own abilities to enter a room that he is freely allowed to enter!?” Faraa boomed across the room at Commander Raine. His voice was strong and powerful, an aspect of his personality that Faraa liked to keep to himself if he could help it, but he was beyond angry.

“Marshal Law” Raine replied flatly, staring the Praetor down.

“Marshal Law?” Faraa laughed in dismay. “It’s been almost a year, Raine. Not only have you pissed off every person in that city below you, but you have halted democracy. I might as well call you ‘High Matriarch!’”.

“How dare you compare me to her!” Raine shouted back. “I’ve done what needs to be done to protect this city and what remains of our society!”

“That’s not your right, Raine, that is the right of the Senate. A Senate that Lord Kisa put in place”. Faraa was pointing intimidatingly at a still resolute Raine. The two faces of the opposing political ideologies at play in post-Kisa Eresmai.

“Kisa’s gone if you hadn’t noticed, Faraa. It’s time for a new legacy”.

“Why fix what’s already broken, c’mander?” Yasmine interjected. Raine’s eyes darted to Yasmine with a loathing look.

“And what has a bartender got to say about politics?” She spat. Yasmine removed the Darklight Lance from its sheath on her back, holding it horizontally in front of Raine.

“Y’know what this means, doncha?” Yasmine said to Raine, who’s eyes were wide in shock and her face draining of colour.

“Tha’s right, c’mander. Those deemed worthy of Darklight ‘ave a right to political involvement, huh?” Raine literally swallowed her pride before replying.

“I think you’ll find those who are deemed worthy of Darklight have a right to political debate, you can’t overrule politicians” her voice was significantly more subdued.

“Well all th’ same... How’d you think Soran will react too all this?” Yasime asked. Faraa’s gaze was still burning into Raine’s face.

“He disappeared almost a year ago, he has no idea of the situation here” Raine replied. “He put all of Eresmai in danger by going back to Utopia, who’s to say I’ll let him back in?”

“You probably don’t have a choice” Faraa stated matter-of-factly.

“All th’ same he’s pro’lly gon’ be pissed at the state of things ‘ere” Yasmine said to Raine.

“I sent transports to Utopia to pick him up” Raine admitted, turning to the holographic display in the centre of the room. “But they were shot down by Utopian defenses, it seems that they can detect our cloaks now”.

“I woul’n’t worry ‘bout that” Yasmine said with a small smile. “He’ll pr’olly be back b’fore you know it”.
