Entry: Doctor Diamond

"...ugh... where am I?.."

I push myself up out of the sand, but had no success standing up. A great ache in my leg prevents me from using it. I'm dreading the fact that something is wrong with it. I roll around and sit up to see what is wrong.

"..Damn it... just my fucking luck.."

Well, my pant leg that was once covered in random splotches of old blood stains is now replaced by new ones. Gently I pull up my pant leg to see there is a clean laceration on the left side down towards my ankle and one on the right just below my knee. Not a problem I can't fix, but where the hell is my bag? I look around to see it next to a piece of metal sticking out of a pile of sand. Looks like more good news. God my bike was torn apart! God what the hell is next! I let myself fall backwards and to stretch out my arms. I lay looking to the sky and of course its still cloudless. More of reality brings to my attention that Colt and Atomic are nowhere to be found. I always have the worst luck in the whole god damn world.

Depression starts to set in as usual when I am alone, making me feel like shit and bring back my fears of losing the ones closest to me and the memories of the fires...

No!! I can't dwell on it right now. I roll over once again to crawl to where my bag is, once I got it, I sit up and start my work. Suturing and disinfecting each cut with the whiskey Colt stole, I'm done within at least 15 minutes. For my profession I've done this a lot for myself and the rest of the team. The life of a Killjoy isn't the most glamorous, but we are doing what is meant to be right. As i am just to begin wrapping my leg with an old dirty ace bandage wrap the memories of how everything began came flooding over me again. My mind isn't the strongest when it comes to sealing up everything so this time I let them go. It was the longest and most terrible day of my life.

I was 16 when the day the sky turned to ash and Better Living Industries decided to start the country from scratch. The year was 2018. I remember the day as clearly as this morning.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a Saturday morning, and I was unusually up. My regular routine was staying up late then waking up late like any other normal teen my age. So walking out of my room, I successfully didn't wake my younger brother. He was a few years younger than me though so he was going through the whole teenage thing as well, so I wasn't too doubtful that he might wake up. Anyways, I had one of my usual urges to go out for a hike in the back woods. I grabbed my pack full of first aid materials I might need but most likely will not ever use and went on my way. As I exited the door, two familiar sounds come rushing towards me. The pitter-patter of small and large paws came running towards me. It was my weimaraner and my grey lil tomcat Nala. Their own routine of meeting me outside, usually for school, gave me a warm feeling. It was kinda their way of seeing me off before I go out on my little adventure. It always gave me a loved feeling inside knowing they find me that important to come out and meet me. So, bag over shoulder, I began to hike into the deep woods behind my house. Out here I feel truly at peace. No school. No arguing parents, no annoying brother and little sister, No fear of political take over (yeah i know, a kid my age shouldn't really care about that but I'm just myself, strange and weird.) Just me, my camera and the woods. The deeper I traveled the less worries I had. Traveling through the trees and the brush I was on top of a hill overlooking the river where I saw a red fox. I was simply amazed at seeing one and watching how fast it was as headed to the bank of the river. I whipped my camera out and snapped a few pictures as fast as I could. The grace of this animal could be only defined as elegantly dangerous. When I was about to take my last picture of the animal, I heard a loud rumble and explosion coming from the distance. I looked at the sky and saw a dark grey haze over came the light blue sky. My eyes analyzed the clouds surface to where it would had originated from and then fear overcame me. From the distance I could tell the blast came from where my home was, my town.
