It was pouring heavily and thunder roared through the darkness of the night.
He felt the cold water drenching him, ice cold droplets hitting his skin when stepped out of the car and ran towards her house. There were no lights around the place, there was a weird engulfing darkness all around it, it scared him deep down.
Minutes ticked by and he stood there waiting for her to open the door after he knocked. His fingers tapped against the door again this time more fiercely, but there was only silence. Every minute he spent since morning was driving him to frustration with many thoughts clouding his mind. Where was she? He had looked for her all around the room after waking up but she was no where, Abhimanyu had no clue about her either and finally he had chosen to drive down to her place but much to his indignation, she was still beyond his reach. HIs fist thudded against the door in frustration and much to his shock, it was open.
A sigh left his lips, she wasn't there anywhere. The anger within him rose with each passing minute, she wasn't anywhere to be found and to top it all, she left her house unlocked. Fear clouded his mind as he sat on the bed with his hands wrapped around his head.
Ishita, Where are you?
He whispered to himself, more as a plea. The thought of not seeing her was paralyzing him now, where could she possibly be? He looked around the room, his eyes stopping on the half read book that lay on the table, it was one of those things she loved doing, reading romantic novels and widened on seeing the unfinished drink. For all he knew, she wasn't someone who drank. You haven't seen her in the past 8 months, there could be more you don't know about her. His mind shot back. He ran his hands over the sheets of the bed, they smelled of her. He could feel her scent all over them, a smile crept up his lips. It was theirs too, his heart added to the happiness filling his heart, he smiled a little more knowing his heart was right, it was the very same place they had first seen each others soul, as strangers then.
The thunder roared through the silence of the room making him look out the window. It was pouring endlessly. Everything about the stormy night reminded him of the night he had first met her. Drenched. He remember every moment of it even now.
..........................
The rain was thundering against the glass of his window and he could hardly see ahead with the sound of the hammering rain taking over everything else. He could have easily missed her had it not been for the flashing head lights of her broken down car reflecting in his mirror.
The rain hit the pane of his window drenching him, he called out to a figure clad in black which was all it took for everything about his life to change.
There was something so different about her face, through the pouring rain, the drenched face and the intriguing eyes that looked back at him with a sight uncertainty in them. Any other day he would have driven away disgusted with the thought itself rather than helping a woman, but the woman infront of him just held him there. She had him rooted.
Her scent filled the little space between them as she graceful ly sat in the car after a little pondering but eventually giving in. His eyes never left her as he pulled away.
The scent that came off her skin was alluring. He tried not to look at her, but his eyes only kept darting to her. The wet locks touching her skin, the flimsy cloth of her black saree clinging to her curves and the maddening atmosphere that was fitting itself in between them, it was distracting, yet he couldn't tear his eyes off her form. From the corner of his eyes, he could feel her eyes on him even though she tried to look away. Her gaze was intense and he could feel it getting to him. It was attraction, both of them felt it. The ride was silent although, their eyes had already done their part, neither of them could look away from each other.
She was struggling with her seat belt, her hands constantly trying to pull the belt out of the socket but shivering with the cold. Her eyes shot up to meet his when he pressed them down stopping her struggles. The shiver that ran down their spine held them both as they looked deep into each others eyes, each of them being pulled into the passion transpiring between them.
He could feel her breathing heavily when he slowly leaned in closer to take the belt off her. He felt himself loosing to her as her breath fanned his face and her breath became harsher. That's when he first looked deep into her eyes, they were so deep pulling him in. He didn't know how and why he leaned in closer, his lips inches from hers and much to his surprise, she didn't push him away. That said it all. They whimpered as their lips touched putting both their bodies on fire, it was the fire of desire, the one both of them felt.. How did it happen, neither of them knew, it just did they realized as their lips met.
He was just about to deepen the kiss, much to his own surprise of where his desire for her was taking him, when she gasped and parted. The scared look in her eyes was evident. Before he could say anything, she was out of the door in a flash into the pouring rain. He was taken aback with how everything changed in a matter of moments and he really didn't have a reason to go behind her besides the fact that he wanted her. He sighed and ran his hands through his hair when his eyes stopped at her. She was still standing there letting the rain drench her, looking straight at him. It was raining but he didn't need to know that she was gazing at him, he had already felt her gaze. His eyes didn't leave her form as he stepped out of the car and walked towards her, in trance. They were hardly inches away when his feet finally held him back and his hands on their own went around her waist and she pressed her lips onto his, giving away everything she held back.
It was only the beginning of their passion, neither knowing how it transpired between them, who were mere strangers until sometime back.
..........................
The phone rang loudly tearing through the deadening silence of the house also breaking his thoughts. He had that smile on his face, it was the best night of his life ever, hadn't it been for that night, he probably would have never had her in his life.
Ishita, where have you been? I am calling you since 3 days now, you're not even answering any of my calls. If you think you're going to get away with this nonsense, let me be clear that is not happening. I am still your husband. Just don't forget this.
The phone slammed into its cradle. He wished he was deaf or somehow he could turn back that one moment when he had received the call. It was him, the one man who from the very day he had seen disgusted him. He hated it, the authority with which the man on the other end said those words, it was all true. He was still her husband. Not a stranger. Fury, every word that hid ears registered only infuriated him more. A part of him already knew she was far off from being a wife, yet his mind needed reassurance. He had to know what it was all about, the truth. Last time, it was the same place and the same word that had pulled them apart, this time he wouldn't let it happen again. She was his, he couldn't bear for her to belong to someone else. Ever.
The front door creaked open and his eyes finally saw the relief as he saw her walk into the house. It was her, finally. He was about to take a step towards her but stopped, held himself back. The relief and happiness only lasted a minute and he broke seeing the sight infront of him, was it really her? His long buried heart broke.
