It was a day I'll never forget. December 13, 2004. Me and my squadron were gearing up for a raid on a Taliban held position. The attack was supposed to be met with little to no resistance, but something didn't feel right going into this mission, the outside of the base was less defended than we anticipated. This was very alarming considering the Taliban aren't known for giving up easily. Somehow, the Taliban knew we were coming, and we were ambushed almost immediately. The attack was swift and I blacked out, and when I woke up I was the only one left. My squad mates were lying dead around me. I was in total shock for about an hour before I came to. And hell was all that awaited me.
