Jungkook wasn't a butterfly expert nor was he a good writer, but those were the two things that held an interest to him. Ever since he was young he would always carry around a journal and fill it up with whatever came to mind. Whenever he wrote in his journal he would always go in his backyard and sit by a butterfly bush that had unexpectedly grew. That was his favorite place to go because the butterflies he saw always gave him the most inspiration on what to write. At times, he would be so mesmerized by the butterflies that he would unconsciously draw them instead of write. Whenever Jungkook saw them he couldn't help but feel as if he was in some kind of trance. With the way the butterflies gracefully flew around the air and the beautiful bright colors they held, it felt as if time had slowed down. He would always wonder what it would be like to be one; to be able to fly. He would always ask his friends, "Being a butterfly would be great, right?" and they would just nod as if it wasn't something new to them. Some butterflies had different colors while others had only one and Jungkook was completely fine with it because he thought all butterflies were beautiful.
Jungkook was doing his usual routine until he felt the bench slightly sink, but he didn't look up because he was too busy writing. He felt the pen being snatched away from his hand and quickly looked up to see who the culprit was. It was none other than his two best friends, Jimin and Taehyung. They were both chuckling and Jungkook tried to grab his pen back, but Jimin was too quick for him. Jungkook rolled his eyes, "Hyung, give it back" he said as he put his hand out. Jimin pushed his hand away and shook his head while Taehyung just laughed. Jungkook was about to get up, but Taehyung quickly placed a small box on the table. Jungkook looked at the box and then looked at his friends and then back at the box again. "What's this?" he asked as he slowly sat back down. Taehyung gave him a dumbfounded look, "Are you serious? It's your freaking 18th birthday you punk!" he exclaimed as he bent over to hit Jungkook on top the head. Jungkook grabbed his head in pain, "That hurt!" he exclaimed as he glared at him. "Well maybe that'll knock some sense into you" Taehyung said back. "Why, you little--" Jungkook was about to get up and grab Taehyung, but Jimin quickly chimed, "Okay! Okay! That's enough, time to open your present" he said to try and calm Jungkook down. Jungkook sat back down and started to open his present and as he opened it he froze. There in front of him was a simple butterfly pin that had many different colors, he picked it up and stared at it and then looked at his friends. "Do you like it?" Jimin asked hopefully. "Like it? I love it!" Jungkook exclaimed. Jungkook had the biggest smile on his face and his friends couldn't help but to smile as well. "Hey, look at this" Jimin said as he opened his jacket to show Jungkook that he was wearing the same pin. Jimin looked at Taehyung and nudged him. Taehyung rolled his eyes and looked away, but did the same thing Jimin did and he too, was wearing that same butterfly pin. This time, Jungkook had an even bigger smile that he started to get a little teary eyed and went to give them a bear hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" he kept on repeating. "Yeah, yeah. You're welcome and happy birthday" Taehyung said monotonously. Jimin chuckled and whispered in Jungkook's ear, "It was his idea by the way".
After they sat back down, Jimin grabbed another box and placed it on the table. Jungkook looked at it disbelief, "another present? You guys, you didn't have to get me anything", he slightly whined. Taehyung rolled his eyes, "yah, stop complaining and be grateful". "I am grateful!" Jungkook retorted back and grabbed the box. As he was about to open it, he suspiciously looked back at his two friends, "after I open this there won't be another present, right?" and quickly looked under the table to see if there were any more. Both Jimin and Taehyung laughed and shook their heads. "No, there won't be anymore. Now get up and open your present" Jimin said as Jungkook got back up. He opened his other present and it was a new pair of shoes. Confused, he looked up at Jimin and Taehyung. "We decided to get you a new pair because your shoes now are getting old and all worn out" Taehyung said. Jungkook looked down at his shoes and they were right, they were getting old but it wasn't really worn out. "Thank you for the new pair, but for now I'll continue to wear these pair. And besides, we all bought these same shoes the same time, so shouldn't you guys be getting new ones as well?" Jungkook said. Both Jimin and Taehyung looked down at their shoes and nodded as well. "Yeah, but since it was your birthday we thought about you getting a new pair first" Jimin said. Jungkook nodded his head, "to be honest, I don't want to give these pair of shoes up just yet because our shoes hold a ton of memories". All three of them stopped for a moment and thought about all the good and bad memories that their pair of shoes had gone through.
