"The reason I haven't come to see you in a while is because I have been searching for the key" she explained, "I'm not sure if this is the one but it's worth a try". She fumbled about in her deep pocket and pulled out a large silver key. The cook put the key in the look and turned it. I heard a click and the cage door swung open. I wasn't sure whether I was happy or sad. I had mixed feelings. If I left I might never see the cook again, and I had nowhere to go. But I couldn't stay cramped up in this gloomy cage with little food or drink. "You're free!" exclaimed the cook. "But where do I go?" I asked anxiously, "and what about you, I might never see you again". "Don't worry about me" said the cook, "it's a risk, but it's worth the chance. You can't stay here forever". I wondered if the man would find me but I decided I would be well gone by the time he figured it out. "I'll leave tomorrow" I said bravely, though my eyes were watering. The next morning I woke up at dawn. The cook was already there holding a bag. She handed the bag to me. "This contains some things to keep you going for a while at least, just try not to eat too much at once" she said. My stomach churned as I walked down the narrow passageways and saw daylight for the first time in months. I said my final farewell to the cook and set off on my journey. I ran and ran, afraid that Edward would catch me. The wind hit my face and I felt the crisp, spring air. It felt so good to be out in the open air. I ran until I was gasping for breath. I looked around and found I was in a small village. I was unfamiliar with my surroundings.
