I awake the next morning to my alarm clock blaring in my ear. "Ugh." I groan rolling over and pressing the snooze button. I slowly opened my eyes and glanced at the time. 4:00 A.M shone in bright red on the face of my alarm clock. I sit up, and walk over to my dresser. Grabbing an outfit for today, I disappear into the bathroom and take my morning shower.

As the water poured down on me, my mind flashes back to last night's events. I can remember the way Keith's smile lit up the bar, and the passion he had performing with just him and his guitar. That thick accent that drew me in... I find myself smiling at every little detail.

I hop out of the shower, get dressed, and do my hair, and then head into my little kitchen and fix a cup of coffee. 'I'VE GOT FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES....' My ringtone blares as my phone vibrates on the table.

"Hello?" I answer placing my coffee cup down. "Hey Jamie. It's Keith." I heard a thick accent on the other line. My heart skipped a beat as I smiled. "Oh hey Keith!" I replied.

"I hope I didn't wake you. But I couldn't sleep.. You know the time change and all.." He explained as I could hear the exhaustion in his voice. "No don't worry. I'm just getting ready to head to work." I responded finishing my coffee and placing the cup in the sink. "Oh okay. So are we still good on tonight?" He asked as I slipped on my shoes and threw on my jacket.

"Yep!" I answered grabbing my purse and placing it over my shoulder. "Great! Do you want me to pick you up at your house, or the hospital?" He pondered. I climbed into my car and started it up before I replied. "Umm.. Let's go with the hospital." I answered smiling.

Keith and I talked until I reached the hospital, and I could hear his voice getting drowsy. "Alright Keith I'm heading into work. You get some sleep, and I'll see you tonight!" I smiled walking towards the hospital doors. "Alrighty, see you then." He answered back as we both hung up. I quickly made my way to the surgeon lounge and changed into my scrubs, and then headed off to complete yet another long day at the hospital.

8 hours later it is time for my lunch break, and boy do I need it. I haven't eaten since I grabbed a bagel in the lounge this morning before my first surgery, and I sure regret not eating again. I make my way down to the cafeteria and pile food up on my tray, then I find Kelly and Josh and head over to sit at their table.

"Hey guys!" I exclaimed taking a seat as they turned their heads and noticed me. "Oh hey Jamie." They replied digging into their food. I smiled as I did the same, until I was interrupted by Kelly. "So tell me about Keith." She started as I choked on my water I was just drinking. "What do you mean?" I asked biting my lip. "Come on Jamie! We know you guys like each other. It was obvious last night." She winked as my stomach churned. It's true I definitely like Keith. "Well there isn't much to tell.. We just got a drink and chatted... And that's about it!" I answered. Kelly shot me a look as I felt my pager go off in my pocket. I quickly grabbed it and saw the '911' flash. "I gotta run!" I exclaimed standing to my feet and picking up my tray. "I got it. You go ahead. And you're not off the hook yet." She crossed her arms as I laughed and rushed to the surgical floor.

"What's going on?" I asked out of breath as I reached the room I was needed in. "We have a male in his 20's with a gunshot wound to the chest." Someone explained as I nodded and picked up his file. "Alright what are his signs?" I asked waiting for someone to reply. "He's stable." A man answered and I looked up to see one of the new interns. "Alright. Let's get him back to the OR, and fast." I ordered as we all took off towards the Operating room.

"And... I got it." I stated calmly as I used the tweezers to carefully remove the bullet that just missed the heart. I placed it into the pan, and stepped to the side as the interns came over to examine my work. "Any questions?" I asked as an assistant removed the surgical glasses from my eyes. "No ma'am." The interns replied. "Alrighty." I responded heading into the scrubbing area and removed my gloves. I turned on the water and scrubbed my hands clear up to my elbows with soap, and then rinsed it off. Glancing up at the clock, I gasped at the time. It was 7:00, which only gave me 30 minutes to change out of my scrubs and into my jeans and Tshirt for tonight.
