The monster sneaked up
But not from under my bed
It got tired of choking on dust
And moved right into my head

This unwelcome guest came
Sowing destruction on its way
It seeped like ink into my thoughts
And started to darken my days

Happiness fell into the abyss
Caused by the this monster's claws
It ripped me apart and
I fell right into its open jaws

Now, each day is a battle
As I squint to see the fading light
How long will my grip last?
Before I'm pulled to eternal night?
