“Dylan! Dylan” My best friend and neighbor are playing our infamous game of hide and seek. I find Dylan hiding behind a tree in my back yard. When I saw him though he started running. I’m chasing him around the yard. He is much faster than me and I cant catch up to him.
“Please, Dylan stop running!” I yell panting.
“Fine, fine! Ava, I surrender. I’ll stop” he says extending his hand.
“Okay, thank you.” Just as I reach my hand out to shake his he takes off again.
“DYLAN! Seriously!”
Instead of running around though he runs inside through the doors and goes into the kitchen.
“That wasn’t funny Dylan!”
“Yes it was Ava. You looked so mad”
“No it wasn’t, do you want something to drink?”
“Yes please, can I have a juice box” I get his juice from the fridge and give it to him. We talk for a while more and play around. We go upstairs and play on one of the game stations we have.

When Dylan finally leaves my mom comes into my room.
“Hi Ava, did you have fun with Dylan today?”
“Yes, mommy!”
"He’s turning out to be quite a cute boy” my mom says raising her eyebrows.
“ewwww, “ I stick my finger into my mouth to emphasize the disgust “no Dylan is gross.”
“Okay Ava, whatever you say.” She replies and closes the door.
Dylan cute? What a weird thing to think.
Present Day…
Sitting in class can… no is living hell. But I guess it’s not that bad considering that my best friend is in this class too and is only a glance away when someone does something stupid. Don’t get me wrong; he is the best, best friend ever. But being best friends with a guy that people want to be and girls want to be with is really hard. Especially when I have watched him grow up into this guy, Dylan has come a long way from when we used to play Hide and Seek in my back yard, and play pointless video games with in my basement. He is about 5 foot 11 now with dark hair and light eyes. People are in love with him; teachers, girls, boys even. He plays hockey and is just the person people want to be around.
Class is about forty-five minutes in when Mackenzie walks into class. She is that girl that you love to hate. She is popular and cant lie, very pretty. But she’s a bitch; her friends talk to her but not nice things when not around her.
“Sorry Miss… I didn’t realize I was this late, my boyfriend was sick.” And there she goes talking about her damn boyfriend. She never shuts up about him, if there isn’t a post on Instagram of them its on Twitter, and if it’s not on either she is showing people it. We get it, you’re in a relationship, its not like it’s stopping her from talking to other guys.
“That’s fine, Mackenzie,” the teacher begins “just have a seat and get the notes off the person beside you.”
She smiles and I glance over to Dylan who is laughing, cause he knows we’re thinking the same thing about her boyfriend. She takes her seat, which is right beside Dylan’s -eww- and I can see her talking to him. Sorry, flirting with him. Like stop, its just notes ask for them and then move on, GOD! As always, Dylan smiles and talks to her like we don’t hate her.

By the time class ends, Dylan and I are heading up to our next classes.
“Why do you have to be so nice to her?” I ask him
“I’m not being nice, you know that!”
“I know, I know. Its just clear that she’s like IN LOVE with you.”
“Ava, no she isn’t. She has a boyfriend.” I roll my eyes at him.
“And you think that has stopped her before?”
“You’re right!” He says as he steps in front of me and holds my shoulders. “I don’t like her, so nothing is going to happen. Remember I tried that already.” I laugh. “Yeah I know.” We get to my class and Dylan says bye and heads to his.
Dylan has been dating since grade school, he knows he’s attractive and he uses it to his advantage. But I always have to be there to pick up the pieces when things fall apart. Its not because he gets overly upset and cries when things don’t work out, but he does get mad. And I know how he feels, I can’t find one person worth even trying to date at this dead beat school. I cant even imagine, trying everyone and not having success. I just hope he doesn’t go and try again with that girl.
