"F-Flame!What are we going to do?!" Frost's voice was strained with panic, as she watched Haruka draw closer and closer. The strange man with her had also begun moving towards them, his odd headphones glowing within the darkness of the alleyway. Their footsteps echoed eerily and due to the lack of light, it was the only indication that anyone else was there at all. Flame bit his bottom lip in frustration, not completely sure on what to do next. The door is locked, I don't want to risk turning my back to open it. I would try to break the door down, but what good would that do? That would just leave us in a worse situation than we're in now. There's just no way to escape this other than fighting our way out, is there? If only Endy were here, we'd be able to teleport our way out. Wait a second... Flame looked down at his wrist, seeing the little bracelet that he wore. A gift given to him by his mother. It read, in small letters: There's no place like home. That's it!
"Frost, the bracelets!" He shouted, holding out his wrist. Frost stared at the bracelet for a brief moment, surprised and even slightly embarrassed. She felt stupid for forgetting about such an obvious thing, but it was beyond her now.
"Are you sure that's the best idea? We haven't been to Hailfire in years, and who knows when we'd be able to come back here? Besides, we have to warn the others about Har-"
"There's no time. It's just a risk we have to be willing to take," Without waiting for Frost's response, Flame grabbed her wrist and positioned his bracelet with Frost's. He closed his eyes, hearing the loud thudding of Haruka's footsteps growing alarmingly near. There was silence. Had it worked? Flame slowly opened his eyes, allowing them to adjust to the new light. Frost and Flame were now in an odd forest of pine trees, covered with ice and snow. The pure white snow was tinted with blue in some areas, and it glittered in the moon's light. Speaking of the moon, as Flame tilted his head to the sky, he came to the realization that the moon was a lot different than the one back on Earth. The moon here was not only larger, but it was also a brilliant ice blue. The night sky was almost completely different from what these two were used to. An unfamiliar moon and an unfamiliar set of shimmering stars. He didn't think it was possible, but Flame was already beginning to feel homesick. I shouldn't be feeling homesick. I am home!
"The grand world of Hailfire, so we meet at last!" Frost called out into the wilderness, not even taking into consideration that other people might be out here somewhere. She had her arms outstretched as her breaths came out as small puffs of white. It was freezing, but she honestly couldn't tell. Flame was the one she was concerned about. As she gazed at him and studied his movements, she came to the conclusion that he was probably cold. He had his arms folded tightly around his lean body, and from there it looked like he was shaking. Cocky bitch doesn't want to admit it. Oh Flame, you're such a goofball.
"Didn't expect us to end up here on the ice side, now did ya?"
"N-Nope."
"Was that a stutter I just heard? Are you cold, Flame?"
"N-No, I-I'm f-fine."
"Pfft, yeah right. You can try to hide it all you want, you can't fool me. C'mon, let's get going. I'm sure our parents will be thrilled to finally see us again.""Caaattt! Cat! It's an emergency!" Cat was woken up as she heard Sebastian yelling at her from the other side of her bedroom door. She had been fast asleep, enjoying her slumber, and was quite annoyed that her brother deciding to wake her up. She let out an annoyed and exasperated sigh as she slid out the comfort of her bed. What does he want from me? As she made her way over to the door, she took a glance at the clock. And at such an early hour, too. He knows that I had a late night, why is he bothering to wake me so early? She turned the doorknob and gently pushed the door open. She was surprised to see Sebastian standing there, a good bit taller than herself, with a look of horror on his face. His blue-green eyes were glazed with a mixture of fear and concern, and even Cat was beginning to feel a bit uneasy.
"What's wrong, Sebastian?"
"You have to come quickly. There's no time to explain," He grabbed Cat's hand and began to lead her down the hall, down the stairs, and to the front door. She passively allowed him to do so, but curiosity and concern were prickling through her. What has Sebastian so worked up?The sun wasn't even up yet as Sebastian and Cat ran through the protection of the tall trees and the forest greenery. The sound of the waves was far in the distance by now, and the early morning melody of the birds could be heard as the woods awoke. The pathway was slightly wet from the dew; it had been a fairly cool night.
"Seriously, Sebastian, can you please tell me what's wrong? I'm genuinely afraid."
"No need to exaggerate, Catherine."
"I'm not joking."
"I suppose I'll just explain it along the way. So, you know how Dixie and Axel decided to stay with Hazel for the night? In case anything bad happened?"
"Yeah. What about it?"
"Well, something bad did indeed happen."
"What? What happened?!" Cat yelled, urging Sebastian to tell her. They had already reached the familiar house that belonged to Hazel, such a sweet and shy girl. Sebastian slowly opened the door and stepped aside, allowing Cat to go in before him, saying, "Why don't you just see for yourself?"
She hesitantly made her way forward, obviously in discomfort. She could still make out the rusty, metallic scent of blood. She couldn't distinguish whether it was legit or it was all just in her mind. Hazel and Arsheena's quiet murmuring could be heard coming from the living room. Cat carefully made her way down the hallway, not wishing to disturb whatever conversation the two may be having.
"...-could've been that one girl that was here last night. It's a certain possibility, don't you remember how creepy she was acting?"
"You could be right. I don't want to jump to any conclusions just yet, though. It's just like a police investigation. We have to take this situation with precision and caution. Otherwise, this could come out to a very disastrous conclusion," Hazel stated just as Cat walked into the room.
"Is everything okay? What happened?" Cat didn't need a reply to get her answer. Two bodies, placed side by side and face down, were on the floor. The cream colored carpet was stained with blood. A girl with a brown pixie cut, and a boy with tiger-like hair.Axel and Dixie. They're...dead?
