Louis’ POV

I was laying around on the couch just like Vanessa told me, I was awake too.

I sat up as I heard a knock at the door, was that my ‘benefit’?

I opened the door, a note on the floor accompanied with a rose and an empty box.

My beloved Louis

I want you to accept this challenge, take the box and the rose, collect each rose as you walk along, and blow out the candles and place them in the box.

I will be waiting for you at the end .xx

I was going to meet him!

I looked around, no candles? I walked forward spotting a small light ahead.

Ooh candle!

I ran towards it, blowing it out and placing it in the box.

I looked up, spotting more tiny little glows ahead.

It was a trail! Oh this was so cute.

I noticed the next one had a rose next to it. I picked it up, holding it with the other one, this guy had gone to all the trouble to cut off the thorns too. Aww.

I followed the long trail of candles, it was leading to the park.

I followed the candles through the park, finding the lake at the end. I spotted a figure sitting by himself on a blanket, a little picnic basket next to him and a single candle next to him.

He was looking out to the lake, his knees bent up, his hands clasped together over the top. He sighed, looking around…for me?

Yes for me, there was another candle I had missed just a few metres away from him. I walked as quietly as I like towards the candle, picking it up and blowing it out.

I placed it in the box, walking towards him.

“H-hi” I stuttered, just a metre away from him.

His head jerked up, scrambling to his feet and turning around to face me. All of a sudden the box and flowers crashed to the ground.

“Harry” I breathed.

All this time it was Harry?! This is what he meant by ‘you must be willing to forgive me’

“Lou” he smiled hopefully.

I was shocked, my mouth gaping open at him.

“Happy Birthday” he spoke, trying to get me to talk.

I stood my ground, not moving or speaking, we both stared at each other.

“Oh! I got you something” he remembered, blushing and turning around, he bent down to grab a small box out of the basket.

He stood up clumsily, sticking out his hand for me to take his gift.

I took it cautiously as he peered at me, biting his bottom lip in a hopeful way. I opened it slowly, taking my time. It was a jewellery box, just an ordinary one, nothing special.

I pried off the lid, my breath hitching in my throat.

His paper plane necklace.

“I-I want you to have it” he spoke.

He had worn this before I had met him, this never left his neck. This was something he treasured.

I startled me as his hands took the necklace out of the box, I hadn’t noticed him come so close.

He walked around me, tipping my head forward slightly and clipping it around my neck. My hand flew up to my neck, feeling it on my skin it was cold and comforting.

Harry’s POV

Louis turned around, suddenly shoving me harshly in the chest.

“Hey” I frowned.

“Why didn’t you call?” he grumbled.

“I-I well”

“Or visit like you promised?!” he shouted at me. “Or skype?!” he huffed. “You didn’t even text” he murmured into the cold crisp air, he turned away from me, crossing his arms over his chest and holding back the tears.

“I’m sorry Lou, I really am, but I had friends in England, they were so nice, I guess I got caught up with them so much, before I knew it I had no credit left in my phone, and I was always busy. I couldn’t skype at night, Mum told me I had to sleep.” I explained.

“You didn’t have any time to visit?” he asked sarcastically, sniffling.

I sighed, still standing behind him, he didn’t want to even look at me.

“Louis, I tried to get mum to let me come back but she wouldn’t let me go alone” I spoke, sincerity in my voice.

I took a small step closer.

“Please forgive me” I barely whispered.

Did he want to?

“Why should I?” he asked.

I sighed.

“You’re right, why should you forgive me? But I did keep one promise I made” I spoke.

I placed a hand on his arm, the cold piece of metal that was wrapped around my finger coming into contact with his arm.

The promise ring.
