(I'm tired from school right now so sorry if it sucks even thought it's a really long chapter ~Brynn)
Laura woke up, breathless and wiping the sweat and curls from her forehead.
She'd dreamed of her Mother showing up, explaining things to her that she couldn't remember.
She thought she heard her say "I killed your father." which was a blow to her chest. Why would her mom do such a thing? That is, if it's actually true.
But her mother was no cold-hearted killer. Laura just couldn't seem to remember anything. The past was like a missing puzzle piece to her mind that she was dying to find out. All these years Vanessa has been keeping such a close on her-- It didn't dawn on her 'til now what the reasons could be for.The mysteriously attractive boy, Ross came across her mind. Would she ever see him again? Does she want to?
She does, but not for those reasons. More for the reasons of that he might know the answers to her questions. Or maybe he can help.
Vanessa's head popped through the opening of a door, which she usually did when she had something to say to Laura..
"Hey, I'm going out today... And I hope you don't mind but I want you to stay in. No leaving the house okay?" She said in the usual authoritative tone of voice she uses when she really means it.
Laura nodded in response, already planning of breaking that rule and probably suffering the consequences later.
Vanessa closed Laura's door and stalked off into the hallway. Laura could hear her sister's keys jingling as she made her way out, locking the door behind her.
The minute Laura heard the door shut she jumped out of bed and started her daily morning routine.
She opened her freshly painted closet and scanned it for an outfit.
Laura would usually take about 15 minutes to decide but that wasn't the case for today.
She pulled out some pink jeans and a matching tank top, then grabbed her blue flowy top that was practically see-through, which Is why she was wearing the tank underneath.
She rushed into the bathroom and hopped into the shower, washing off all the dirt and dried blood from the previous night.
Her muscles felt relaxed as the water ran down her back.
When she was done, she turned the shower off and grabbed the towel on the rack next to her, drying herself off and wrapping an extra towel around her hair before slipping on her new clothes.
Laura pulled out a drawer with Make-up in it and started applying light shades of it.
She finished, examining herself in the mirror and letting her hair falling out of the towel, dry and unimaginably curly.
She reached for her neon pink brush and started brushing through the knots, wincing in pain the first couple of times, halfway through her hair she warmed up the curling iron, which heated not too long after.
Laura finally finished her routine and walked back into her room, slipping on black boots.
There was a knock on the door.
"Coming." Laura said, opening it and revealing Riker's face. She smiled before Riker pulled her into a tight nearly bone-crushing hug.
"Hey." She said, breathing in his cologne. He greeted her back, letting her go reluctantly.
"I'm really sorry for bailing on you last night. I was just..." Laura trailed off. She didn't know what excuse she could give him. It was hard enough lying to her only best friend.
She didn't want him to lose trust him her, but then again he would probably hide this kind of stuff too.
"It's fine, I understand. You were feeling a little nauseous." Riker replied casually, though he was kind of disappointed that Laura had to go. Last night was supposed be the night. The night he'd come out and say it. What he felt.
But then she had started to feel sick. And he blamed himself for feeling like he smothered her.
Laura nodded, walking over to grab her purse from her bedside table and turning back to Riker.
"So, what's the plan for today?" She asked, linking their arms as they made they way out of the apartment, Laura totally forgetting about everything else she had planned. Not that she really had anything planned other than finding ways to avoid Vanessa's rule.
