Chapter 6

We finally get to leave the hospital. School started back up about three days ago, but the school said that it was fine because we were out of state, and Zeke was in the hospital. Zeke has to walk on crutches for nine weeks, and his wrist is almost fixed. We are leaving in about one hour, ten we have to go back to Nancy's house to get our things.

"Are you excited to leave?" I ask Zeke

"Yeah, are you?" He asks me. I think about my answer for a second, I'll miss my new friend Jake. We've been talking the past few days. We had lunch together yesterday while his grandma and Zeke were both asleep. "Yeah," I finally say. "Hey, I'll be right back." I say as I walk out of the room. I want to find Jake and tell him goodbye, it was nice to have a friend here while I was under a lot of stress. I finally find him in the cafeteria. "Hey Jake!" I say with a smile.

"Oh hey, you come here to eat?" He asks with a bright white smile and wide green eyes.

"Actually, no." I say with a sigh. "Zeke is okay to leave now, and we've already missed a few days of school."

"Oh, you live in California right?" He asks me, not as happy as he was before.

"Yeah, in a small town called Jacksville, yeah it's a weird town name." I say trying to brighten the mood.

"Ha," he laughs. "You have my phone number right?" He asks me pulling out his iPhone 5s.

"Uh, I think I do." I say looking through my iPhone 5c, Zeke and I got these on the same day. His is blue and mine is green, my favorite color. I finally find his number.

"Okay good." He says with a half smile. "Text me when you're home safely, okay?"

"Yeah, no problem." I say smiling.

We have one last hug. He hold me tightly, like he never wants to let me go. Then, he kisses me. I pull back and look into his bright green eyes. "Well, I have to go." I say, my voice is shaking and I stuttered.

"Okay..." he says looking at his shoes.

"I'll talk to you soon." I say my voice still shaky.

"Yeah, okay." he says after awhile.

I turn and walk down the long white hallway. Zeke is sitting outside his door with a wheelchair and a big smile. Zeke is the only guy for me. I say repeatedly in my head. I lean down and kiss Zeke so I can forget what just happened. I hope this won't change anything.
