"I don't know if I should Ell. I am, after all, like your brother." Sam tells me. I was taking Sam to the party I went to when first got here. He didn't however, want to go alone so I volunteered but of course, Jake has to come to 'keep an eye' on us. In reality, its just an excuse to go to a party with 'fresh meat', get laid then get mad at me tomorrow morning and accusing me of sleeping with another guy. In case you couldn't tell, I have experienced this for a long time now.
"You're going and besides, I'm enrolled here as a Winchester so, you don't have to pretend." I say simply and he sighs.
"Are you really making me do this?"
"Yes." Then it was too late to back out because we were at the party destination. Fortunately, I had made a good reputation of myself and was able to get in, unlike any other soon graduate who was banned. Jake took advantage of this and the minute we got in, he was off flirting. Trying to get into everyone's pants. Everyone who didn't have a penis that is.
"I'll get us some drinks." I shout over the loud music then disappear into the crowd of 'fresh meat' and go to the kitchen where the asshole of my cohort was running the drinks and because I'm a senior, I have to take 2 shots of whiskey before getting a drink or 2. His rules for me, and I'm not very appreciative of those rules.
"Asshole." I mutter to myself and because of how loud it was, I got away with it easily.
"Here you go." I hand Sam a beer and he cringes and looks at me, most likely seeing Dean and what he would usually do.
"Ellie, I'm not even 21."
"So? Guys younger than you are drinking." Sam frowns and I knew why. For us, its never easy separating from the family that you have been on the road with for years.
"Do you want to leave?"
"Yes."
I sigh and he grab his arm, hauling him through the copious amounts of people so that we wouldn't lose each other. Then I see Jake and I groan. I was just going to text him.
"Me and Sam are leaving." I tell him and he scoffs. This part of the house was quieter and didn't have the floorboards rattling from the music currently playing.
"Why?" Great.
"Because Sam isn't feeling well." I lie, trying to see if he'll buy it and he scoffs again.
"He's probably a light drinker. Stay."
"No. He didn't even want to come. We're leaving. Have fun ladies." Then I quickly leave and we're off, Sam driving since I did still have my beer and I did have 2 shots. Probably not the wisest idea to be driving.
It was silence for a lot of the way. Not a word was spoken and this was exactly what it was like when I was with them. Silence, only the music playing but, a lot of the time, even that was off.
"Turn left here. We'll go to my place." I tell him and he nods. Putting the indicator on and turning when it came.
"Why did you leave?" I ask him quietly. I wasn't even hammered, just plain curious.
"I was sick of hunting. I wanted out." He responds and I sigh.
"Dean's really hurt. He called me earlier and-" He cuts me off and I shut up.
"I don't care. He tried to talk me out of it and-"
"This is my place here."
It was a simple one storey home, a home that you'd know is mine from a mile away. A black roof and door, dark bricks, very Ellie Winchester like.
"Should've known. Now tell me." I make a gesture that says give me my keys and he does, placing them in my hand.
"Sam, I'm not trying to get on your bad side. Dean already misses you and John's pissed so..."
"Yeah, I know dad's pissed. I fought with him before I left. We were at Bobby's but luckily, Bobby wasn't there." I sigh.
"Sam-"
"No Ellie. I have always wanted a normal life. I know that isn't completely possible but surely you'd understand wouldn't you? Having a normal life."
"Yes of course I understand Sam which is why I'm asking but you are making it sound as though you don't want to see Dean or your dad again. Or me if you could escape it." I tell him and he looks down and he knew I was right.
"I don't expect you to completely understand why I'm doing this but-"
"I want what's best for you Sam. That's all me and Dean have ever wanted for you which is why we don't care that you're going to college but then completely ignoring us? We have protected you for 20 years! How does this say thank you?" I argue and he looks down and I see a tear escape his eye.
"Its because of dad OK? I would happily go back to Bobby's every summer and see them but after I told dad I was leaving for college? Dad said that he never wanted to see me again." I sigh deeply.
"John wouldn't have meant that Sam. He was probably just angry and-"
"He sounded pretty damn sure Ell. Really sure." Sam tells me and I look down. Our dysfunctional family is falling apart.
In the background my music was playing on my docking station and Bon Jovi's Living on a prayer was softly playing and I smile at the memories of the song.
"I see your love for classic rock hasn't died." Sam mentions and I laugh.
"Shut up."
"No. Look, can you please call Dean and tell him I'm sorry?"
"Yeah sure. I have to call him back anyway so..."
"Thanks."
"Do you need a ride or anything?"
"Could I crash here for the night?"
"Sure. Guest room is third door on the left." I direct and he nods before getting up and finding the hall before disappearing around the corner.
I pick up my phone to call Dean only for the devil himself to start calling. I answer on the second ring.
"Hey."
"I need your help." I heard John yelling in the background and I knew something was up.
"Where are you?" A few miles out where you guys are. In the first hotel you see."
"OK. Be there soon." Luckily it wasn't far away.
"Sam! I'll be back. Something's up with your dad."
"Is he OK?"
"Sounds a little drunk. Nothing I can't handle. Be back in a bit." Then I leave and get in my car, speeding off into the night and trying to get there as fast as I can.
