Chapter 11

1 year later. Sorry for all the time jumps, it just makes the stories shorter, promise the next story won't be like this:)

Also 1 week before the fire

"Please, if I can get in and out it would be a miracle. I now have to ask permission to hang out with you guys." I scoff and Sam smiles while rubbing his thumb over Jess' hand and I smile.

Once upon a time I had a relationship like that and now, if he did that, I'd slap the ass and walk off, knowing he'd put on a show.

"He really needs to stop doing this." Jordy claims and I smile.

"Ya think."

"Why though?"

"I've asked him and he claims that he has no idea. If you guys would like to ask him then go ahead." I answer and they all look down though they know I wasn't having a go at them.

"Anyway, Ell can I talk to you please?" Sam asks me and I look at him before nodding and getting up out of my seat and following him.

"What's up?" I ask him and he pulls a small box out of his jacket and opening it. Revealing a gorgeous looking ring that only could mean one thing. He was going to ask her to marry him.

"Oh my god! Sam!" He smiles and I hit him on the arm.

"When?"

"I don't know. Probably not for a few months." He says and I scoff.

"If you have the ring now, do it now. Well not now but... you know what I mean." I smile and he laughs.

"Yeah maybe. I just don't know. For now could you keep it safe. Please?" He asks me and I look behind me to find Jess and Jords talking and laughing. Acting as though we had just left the restaurant, not bothering to ask us where we were going.

"Yeah. Of course." He hands me the box and I put it in my jacket, just until I could put it in my bag. Discretely of course.

"Can I tell Jordy?" He chuckles but nods and I smile.

"Does she know? About your side job?" Sam asks me and I smile and look down.

"Yeah. After I kept leaving all the time she kept on asking and eventually I just had to tell her."

"Has she seen-"

"No! I don't think anything knows either." I reply and nods. Then we're back at the table and we were acting as though nothing happened.

"What was that about?" Jordy asked me and I look to Sam and smile before texting her so that Jess wouldn't be able to overhear. When she reads it she snaps her head up at me then to Sam and her eyes widen. Sam just smiles as do I and she does to. Jess was oblivious to all this. 

After a few more hours we all decided to leave, with Sam being the most sober out of us all. Jordy however, we had to carry out as she couldn't even see shapes, just blurred people.

"You know, for a coroner, you sure do get drunk a lot. How many ruined livers have you seen in the past 2 years?" I ask her and she groans, making us all smile.

"Just wait until she sees Dean's." Sam points out and I laugh.

"True." We end up walking Jordy home as the cabs wouldn't pick us all up. Good thing her place was only a block away and there were 3 of us. 

After that, as I had left my car there, I drove Sam and Jess back to their apartment before driving off but not after Sam reminded me about the ring and to drive safely. I told him I would and then drove back to my place where Jake was sleeping. Thank god.
