3 Empty Words [Completed]

It started with a letter

Maya pov
I was checking the mail at me, Riley and Farkle conjoined house. Riley and Farkle practically begged me to live with them until they get sick of me. I work at a local art museum but I sell my paintings for some extra money. Let's just say the core 4 hasn't been the same since Lucas's disappearance. Riley and Farkle are engaged with an 8-year-old boy named Toby, I'm with my 7-year-old Layla and life's been going well. I was checking the mail until there was a letter sent to me and Layla I opened it and seen it was from Lucas Friar, someone I haven't seen in 7 years 3 months and 2 weeks not that I've been counting.

Dear Maya and Child,

Hey um, I'm coming back to New York City. I want to be in our child's life again. I looked on Facebook to find where you've been staying. Sadly I can't find anything on our child. What is he/she like? Is it a boy or girl? What's his/her name? Maya, I love you, I never stopped I just wasn't ready for a child at the time. We were both still in college not close to graduating. I just didn't want to ruin my career. But I'm here now and I'm here to stay.

"What about him peaches?" Riley asked grabbing the mail.

"He's coming back and wants to be back in Layla's life," I said putting the letter down.

"Who wants to be in my life mommy?" I heard a little voice of my daughter. I looked at Riley panicked I didn't know what to say.

"No one Layla. Hey didn't you say Nikki and Jet were coming over? Go tell Toby to make sure that his room is clean please." Riley said quickly. Layla nodded and ran upstairs. Jet and Nikki are our neighbor's kids, Jet is 8 and Nikki is 13 but they love hanging out over here. "You can't keep this from her, she's going to find out when he comes." She informed me

"When who comes," Farkle asked kissing Riley's cheek.

"Lucas, he wrote this letter to me and Layla saying he wants to be back in her life, our life," I said.

"Are you going to let him?" They asked in unison.

"I don't know. I'll have to talk with Layla later tonight." I said and if on cue the doorbell rang. "I am really hoping that that isn't Lucas," I said going to open the door.

"Hey, Ms.Hart." I heard Nikki say. I let out a sigh and opened the door wide.

"Hey, Nikki and Jet. Toby and Layla are in their rooms." I said closing the door. Jet ran off to find them

"Ms. Hart can I speak to you and Mrs.Minkus for a second," Nikki asked I looked at Farkle signaling him to exit the room.

"Yeah, Nikki what's up?" Riley asked sitting her on the couch.

"Okay, so there's this guy at school." She paused to look for her to continue. We nodded for her to keep going and she did. "And I think he's really cute, he so sweet, and he's new. But the thing is that my best friend likes him so I hid my feelings. I don't know how much longer I can oh and he's from Texas." She said and I had my eyes widen. I looked at Riley and Farkle from the door.
