3rd chances

Today the kids go back to school after being out for about 2 weeks. And it's fall so it's getting a bit cold here in NYC.

Layla is super excited she's tired of being stuck in the house. "Come on mommy let's go to school, me and Toby and ready," Layla said. I sighed put my hair in a ponytail and grabbed my keys to leave.

When we got there Lucas was sitting on the front steps he looked up and looks like he hasn't gotten any sleep in days.

"Layla, please just listen to me." Lucas pleaded and I heard her take in a deep breath.

"Tobs go to your class," I told him and watched him run off to his class.

"What Lucas." She said trying to sound cold but it actually came out as she was broken. I know the feeling.

"Layla princess I promise that's not it. I love you just as much as I say I do maybe even more. I was just in a rush to leave. Please let's try this again." He pleaded trying to hold her hand but she moved back.

"I don't believe in 3rd chances now excuse me I have to get to class." She said walking off to her class.

"I really messed up this time." He said covering his face."She hates me now. Did you see how mad she sounded?

"Of course Lucas you messed up. She doesn't hate you she's just disappointed. Everyone around her has a dad she's never known hers. Now that she can finally say she can she doesn't want to because her dad hurt her. Left her. Neglected her." I told him. I looked at the time and seen I had to go.

"I'm sorry Maya." He said standing up I did the same.

"Yeah, I'm sorry too," I said and walked away.
