I walked out of Starbucks and into the freezing cold air, pulling my coat tighter around my body and shivered. It's been a week since I was at Niall's house and I haven't seen him around anywhere, he's been gone. Sometimes I feel like he's avoiding me, but then again he did say that he liked my company so maybe I was wrong. I walked down the side walk, passing restaurants and stores that I loved dearly. I spotted a small cottage down a neighborhood that I used to live in and a smile spread across my face as I began to walk to it. I breathed in the cold air and skipped up the porch steps quickly and looked at the door, deciding if I wanted to do this or just leave. I made my decision and knocked on the red door three times. I waited for a minute and rocked back and forth on my heels and then the door swung open. It was her.
"Oh, Sidney! Honey, you've grown up so much. It's so good to see you!" The short old lady pulled me into a hug and I grinned.
"Hey, Annie." I said slowly.
Annie was the woman who took in my little sister when my mom said she couldn't afford another child. So, when my baby sister, Penelope, was born I had to do the heartbreaking thing and drop her off on the porch and run. I haven't seen my little sister in nine years, and she's 12 now. Annie has known me forever though, she used to babysit me when I was six.
"How's Penelope?" I asked her, smiling. She bit her lip and brought me inside and the smell of cookies and tea filled my nostrils.
"Penelope, C'mere for a second honey!" She yelled.
I heard footsteps and then,
There she was.
Her blonde hair was pulled back into a pony tail and she was wearing something similar to me, and I lost it. The tears streamed down my face and she looked taken aback, because I was a stranger to her. I pulled her to me and cried into her hair.
"God, you're so old." I said and smiled.
She shoved me away and looked at me startled.
"Annie, who's this?" She asked. Wow, she sounded like me.
"This is you're older sister, Penelope, meet Sidney."
