Maxine's P.O.V

"Ahahahahaha y-you should've seen his face! I-it was so hahahahaha He was like this a-and then he hahahaha," Carson 'tried' to explain what happened after Principal Monks saw the state of his precious office.

I was absent that day because I was busy dealing with my bruises from the night before.

Carson banged his fist on the cafeteria table, holding his stomach as he started to wheeze.

The boys couldn't help but laugh along because of his laughter that sounded like a hysterical donkey. A few students were glancing at him, curiosity shown on their expression.

"Take a deep breath Car, you're turning red," I chuckled, shaking my head in amusement.

"So, how's the illegal stuff?" Eli casually asked, the laughter immediately dying down.

I couldn't help but glare at him. He shrugged and the boys seemed to take interest on the new chosen topic.

"You know, the usual," I replied, my eyes wandering around the cafeteria.

"You're lying," Dylan pointed out, moving forward in his seat.

My gaze shifted to his,"I'm not." Mentally cursing myself at how defensive it sounded.

Wyatt crossed his arms on his chest,"You do know that we know when you're lying right?" He piped in.

"Spill the hot tea Maxi-pad. The longer you deny, the more we will continue to pester you." Carson said, his eyes no longer held the humor it had earlier.

"I met my ex-bestfriend." I said, my tone flat.

Instead of expecting surprised faces, Carson snapped his fingers and fist pumped before turning to the boys.

"I knew it! Better pay up dickheads!" Carson's smug expression earned a chorus of disappointed groans.

"W-what the hell are you all on about?" I sputtered, completely confused.

"Carson and Wyatt saw you talking to this unfamiliar guy after school." Eli answered simply.

The boys didn't have the privilege to meet motherfucker because we both attended private school up until he vanished. It was at that time that I couldn't bear to walk in the hallways because of too much deja vu hence the reason why I transferred to a public school where I met the boys.

"And how did this lead to a bet?" I trailed off, my eyes narrowing at them.

"You see when we met up after practice, we overheard this two idiots fighting over who that guy was. Wyatt here thought it was a guy you somehow found interest at Rubeu-"

Dylan was cut off by an overly smug Carson," And I knew that there is no way that could happen considering how you're still head over heels with your bestfrien-No, don't give me that 'that's not true look' because I know you still care about him somehow. Anyways we decided to bet on it because why not?" Carson grinned, earning a few eye rolls around our table.

"Seeing you're reaction now clearly shows that it is not the only thing that you've been hiding from us. You better spill us all the hot tea or else tickle monster would somehow show up and I don't know about you but he hasn't been out for a while." Carson continued, a grin on his face but his eyes held seriousness.

I couldn't help but squirm uncomfortably when the boys looked at one another with mischief.

I absolutely hate being tickled.

Motherfucker used to do that to me alot when we were younger and it was something that I had missed when he went away and hated at the memories it brought back.
