He noticed her when Angel and Nathan had walked out of sight. She obviously was not happy as her face once again had that look of hatred. "Cleo" he said as he nodded at her before walking back inside his house. But before he could close the door she burst through. "what the hell?!" she screamed in his face. His snakes hissed her  one even tried to bite her. But she had swatted it away with her hand. Deuce pushed her away, "don't touch them" the words came out cold and harsh. Cleo flinched back, she hadn't expected him to talk back to her.

She stood her ground and leaned into his face, her eyes sharpened as they glared deadly at him. Except it had no affect like all the other times she glared down on him. Instead he leaned in closer and told her in a cold voice, "leave" stepping back as Deuce steppes closer. The more she stepped back, he stepped closer until she was finally outside again. But she still didn't leave instead she looked away and her voice wavered as she spoke, "why did you run after him?" Deuce didnt hesitate to answer"because what you said was going to far"

She turned to look at him so fast he was a bit shocked. "to far?!" She yelled at him he nodded "yes, you've been cruel to a lot of ghouls that are new" Cleo shook her head in denial , "he's a freak what I said was true!" She screamed. Deuce gave her a confused look "than why to you hang out with Nathan and his friends...their hybrids to you know that, right?" Cleo nodded, " I know I can't even stand being around them" Deuce had enough as he slammed the door in her face screaming through to leave or they'll both regret it.

He could hear the sounds of her heels hitting the stairs as she walked away. Deuce walked upstairs as his happy mood had quickly been destroyed by his goulfriend. He walked into the library to see all the books were neatly put away. He couldn't help but smile as he remembered Angel reading on the floor.

"are you alright?" He turned around to see his mother sitting calmly on a seat with a book opened in her hands. Deuce sighed and shook his head, she motioned for him to sit with her. Walking to her he took a seat beside her. "now tell me what's wrong" she said. At first he hesitated thinking it wasn't her business but when she wouldn't look away he knew he had no choice but to tell her.

"you know when me and Cleo broke up when we went to Boo York?" His mother nodded and he continued, "well for a bit I was relieved......I always felt as though I was a pet to her..........and since then even when we are together I can't help but feel like we should've never came back as a couple" she stared at him "well?"

"well what?" He asked"why don't you tell her that instead of staying with her even when your not happy? Deuce shrugged his shoulders, he didnt even understand why he hasn't said anything. Was he still in love with her ....no,no he isn't if he was then he wouldn't want hit her every time she bullies someone. "I don't know why.....but today I stood up to her for the first time" his mother smiled and asked him why. Deuce smiled at his mother, "there's this new kid at school his names Angel Rott" she smiled "Nathans brother?" He nodded "yeah, his adopted brother...." His smile fell as he looked away from her. "his different from Nathan ....he is a hybrid but he has 3 scareatis" "and in guessing Cleo didn't like it" he shook his head " no she called him a freak...." "and is he?" She asked him.

"NO! He's amazing..." Deuce looked at her his eyes shining with kindness "even though I only met him today he's kind and adorably cute....he's a huge book lover....he came up here and was install covered in books. He's a fast reader he is no where near being a freak!"

his mother smiled at him. Standing up she walked to a shelf and placed the book in her hand back where it belonged. "Well that explains why its so clean here.....to me it sound like you may have a crush on the boy"

Deuce looked at her in shocked....a crush....on a boy.....well Angel was cute and likable in every way. "Maybe" he said with a smile. She kissed his forehead, "well how does your snakes feel for him?" He knew that question was important since if our snakes lived someone it means they found their soul-mate.

He blushed, " Yeah one even curled around his hand two tried to kiss him without him noticing" she laughed softly, "how does he feel about them?" He smiled at her "He loves them....even caressed them"

His mother smiled as she walked out of the room, "well then all you have to do is leave Cleo" she told him before leaving. Deuce stared at the door. Leave Cleo....sounds easier then done. Whenever he tries to break it off she finds something to make him stay. Once she even threatened to get his snakes removed. He shuddered at the memory.

Deuce looked out the window as the sun went down and the sky turned dark. He couldn't help but think about Angel how he smiled at him when he gave him the books.

He couldn't help but smile as he thought of tomorrow, seeing Angel  again, smiling he left the room and headed to his room to sleep with Angel in his mind.
