Chapter 8

I woke up to Zeyna telling us it was another 'big big day'.

I groaned, but got up anyways.

We walked down to the dining area, and the sweet smell of breakfast hit my nose. That's when I realized how hungry I was.

"Yum. Food." I moaned.

"Yeah. One thing about the Capitol is that they have wonderful food."Rose said.

"Yeah... oh! It's private training day." I said sounding dumb.

"Good job!" Rose said like I was the stupidest person in Panem.

"Hey now." I said then laughed.

"Look who's in a good mood." Uncle Peeta said.

"Yup." Rose said popping the 'P'.

"Good luck in your private session." he said. "I bet you will get at least an 8."

"Thanks Uncle Peeta." Rose said.

"I hope that the Game Makers like us." I said and laughed.

"Yeah... they're trying to make our lives in the arena (sorry 4 the language!!) hell." Rose said. "They don't have time to like little tributes from District 12."

We broke out laughing. I couldn't believe we were making jokes about the hunger games, and with them being so close.

"Yeah, you two have half an hour till' District 1 goes. You may be last, but you have to be there for all the tributes to train." he said.

"Okay." I said now regretting volunteering.

"Now, get ready." he said after we ate.

We were sitting and waiting for District 11 to finish up their session, when Albert's name was called. I didn't care, but I still hoped he got a good score. I mean we were from the same district.

About ten minutes later Josh's name was called. I was nervous for the training session.

Josh's training went faster, about five minutes. Rose's name was called. I wished here good luck. I was now all alone.

I was called after about twenty minutes later. I hope that means that she did good.

I walked into the room, and saw almost all the weapons imaginable. I quickly walked over to archery, and saw it was the same as in the training center.

I walked over to what looked like a human target, and shot. Arrow in heart. Bulls eye. Arrow through the eye. Bulls eye.

I walked over to the punching bag, and shot an arrow at the rope hanging the bag up. As soon as I released that arrow, the rope broke. It was excellent shooting.

I walked casually over to the knife throwing station, and threw four knives. One through the neck, one through the heart, and two through the eyes. Perfect.

The Game Makers looked shocked that a little teenage girl from District 12 could do so much. I smirked and walked over to the big tree that tributes practice climbing. I grabbed the bow, and started climbing the tree.

I was told many times by Rose that I looked just like a squirrel scurrying up a tree. I loved it.

When I made it reasonably high in the tree, I spotted out another human shaped target. I aimed for the head, and shot. It went straight through it's head and our of it's eye. Clean shot.

When I got down from the tree, I couldn't help but smirk at their expressions. "You may be excused." a Game Maker finally said.

"Thank you for your curiosity." I said politely.

I walked out of the room and went to the elevator, and pushed the 12 button. I smelt dinner cooking, and went to sit down by Rose at the dinner table.

"So... what did you guys do?" Albert asked, obviously thinking we were 'friends' again.

"Why would we tell you? You might end up telling your little 'allies'." I said sweetly.

"Okay? Your point is?" Josh asked.

"No Josh, the point is that if you tell the careers... we'll cut your throat." I said with a deadly glare.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Albert and Josh squirm under my glare. Rose glared also.

Aunt Katniss and Uncle Peeta walked into the dining room, right before dinner was served. "What did you guys do?" Uncle Peeta asked the boys quietly.

"What did you do? Archery?" Aunt Katniss asked.

"I also threw knives, and shot a dummy through the head and out the eye." I said like it was no big deal.

"I did archery, and I threw knives, but I also did some edible food testing." Rose said.

"Good job girls. You will have the Capitol amazed in no time." She said excitedly.

"I hope so..." I trailed off.

After dinner, we went to the room with the television, to watch the recaps.

All the career tributes scored anything from a 7 to a 9. They did well.

The one girl that stood out was a girl named Victoria, she got an 11. Wow... if we see her in the games I want her in our alliance.

When it got to District 11, Lilly and Ivey both scored an 8. I nodded to Rose.

"They did good." I said.

"Yeah, I'm proud to say they are our allies." Rose said.

Albert scored a 7 and Josh scored an 8. They did well, but I hoped I did better.

Rose's name was on the screen with an 11. I was amazed! She did well.

When my name was on the screen I couldn't believe my eyes... I also got an 11.

Zeyna looked at us like we were alien. "How... did you?" She said.

"Looks can be deceiving, Zeyna." I said.

"Don't count us out... we can do more than you think." Rose said evilly.

"Okay..." she said when we walked out of our rooms to go to sleep... I was happy. I couldn't wait for the interviews tomorrow.
