*A/N: when I imagined Officer Franco, I pictured James Franco, thus the name. Just letting you know*
The plane ride seemed to go by fast and soon, we were landing in Georgia. We split into SUVs. Uncle Aaron, JJ, Spencer and I were going to the station to talk to the families of the victims.
I sat in the backseat with Spencer, thinking. About the job offer, about the threats. About everything really.
Suddenly, Spencer wrapped his arm around my shoulder. I looked up at him and gave him a smile. He gave me his usual heartwarming smile back. I rested my head on his shoulder for the rest of the ride, deciding not to think too much. I'd leave the thinking to Spencer.
We pulled up to the station and got out. The moment we walked in, we were met by a tall man with messy brown hair and dark brown eyes. He was very handsome. There was no better way to describe him then he was movie star beautiful.
"Hello there. You must be FBI. My name is Office Franco." he said.
"Yes, we are FBI." Uncle Aaron said and shook his hand. "I'm SSA Hotchner, this is SSA Jareau, Dr. Spencer Reid and Dr. Mel Reid."
We all shook Officer Franco's hand. I noticed when he shook my hand, he gave me a weird look. I decided to ignore it. I'm sure it was nothing.
"Thank you for coming. This was a big surprise for us. Nothing like this has happened before. You know, besides that whole Tobias Hankle thing, but that was years ago."
I looked up at Spencer. He returned the look and I knew we were both thinking the same thing. How ironic was it that we were in a town where a case that was close to Spencer happened and we were getting threatening letters that was presumably about a case that was close to Spencer.
"Mel? Spence?"
We both turned back to JJ and Uncle Aaron.
"As I was saying." Uncle Aaron said. "JJ, you and Mel talk to the Garcias, Reid and I will speak to the Delarosas."
I nodded. Spencer grabbed my arm, preventing me from going anywhere. He turned me to look at him.
"What if our UnSub is the one sending the letters?" he asked.
"I'm sure it's a coincidence." I told him. "Don't over think this. Just focus on the case at hand and we'll worry about this later. Okay?"
"You coming or what?" JJ called.
"Coming!" I called to her over my shoulder. "Don't over think."
Spencer nodded. I raced over to JJ and we went to speak to the Garcias. They were sat in an office. Mrs. Garcia was crying on her husbands shoulder. It really broke my heart to see them so sad.
We entered the office and they looked up.
"Hello there. My name is Jennifer Jareau and this is Melanie Reid. We're with the FBI. We just wanted to ask you a few questions about your daughter." JJ told them.
Mr and Mrs. Garcia looked at each other, confused.
"No entiendo (I do not understand)." said Mr. Garcia.
"They don't speak English." I told JJ.
"Do you speak Spanish?" she asked me. I gave her a Do-You-Know-Who-I'm-Married-To-Look. "Right, right."
I turned to the Garcias.
"Hola. Mi nombre es Dr. Melanie Reid, pero me puedes llamar a Mel. Estamos aquí para hablar con usted acerca de su hija. (Hello. My name is Dr. Melanie Reid, but you can call me Mel. We're here to talk to you about your daughter)." I told them.
"Sabes lo que le pasó a nuestro bebé? (Do you know what happened to our baby?)" asked Mrs. Garcia, tears streaking down her face.
"No señora. Eso es lo que estamos tratando de averiguar. (No ma'am. That is what we're trying to figure out)" I told her. Mrs. Garcia burried her head in her husbands shoulder. He tried to calm her down.
"Qué necesita saber el doctor Melanie? (What do you need to know Dr. Melanie?)" he asked me. Grief was written all over his face.
"What are they saying?" JJ asked me. I ignored her and continued with the questioning.
"Su hija salir con alguien que no lo sabía? (Would your daughter go off with anyone she didn't know?)" I asked.
Mr. Garcia shook his head.
"No. Ella era una buena chica. Fue directamente a la escuela y regresó a casa. Fue sólo en los fines de semana iba a ir a casas de amigos. No iba a ir con alguien a menos que ella los conocía. (No. She was a good girl. Went straight to school and came back home. It was only on weekends she would go over to friends houses. She would not go off with someone unless she knew them)."
I turned to JJ, who look as lost as ever.
"She wouldn't go off with someone unless she knew them." I told her. "Which means she probably knew her killer."
"Perhaps he was her teacher or something." JJ suggested.
"That would make sense. If she and Kylie went to the same school, then they would have the same teachers." I said. I turned back to the grieving couple.
"Cuánto tiempo ha tenido su ciudadanía estadounidense? (How long have you had your American citizenship?)" I asked them.
"Sólo unos pocos años, pero hemos estado viviendo en Estados Unidos desde antes de que naciera Demitri. (Only a few years, but we have been living in America since before Demitri was born.)" Mrs. Garcia said, finally pulling away from her husband. Her eyes were puffy and her face was red and tear stained.
"La última pregunta, (Last question,)" I told them. I took the picture of Kylie out of the case file and showed it to them. "Conoces a esta chica? (Do you know this girl?)"
They examined the picture for a moment, then shook their heads.
"No." Mrs. Garcia answered. "Es esta la otra chica que fue asesinada? (Is this the other girl who was killed?)"
"Sí señora. (Yes ma'am)." I replied.
"Ella no se ve mucho más que Demitri (She does not look much other than Demitri)" Mr. Garcia observed.
I put the picture back in the file and stood up. JJ did the same, understanding this meant the interview was over.
"Gracias. Prometo que capturar a la persona que mató a su hija pronto. (Thank you. I promise we will catch the person who killed your daughter soon)." I told them. They nodded and JJ and I exited the office.
I told her what they had said and shortly after, Spencer and Uncle Aaron joined us.
"The Garcias didn't speak a word of English." JJ said. "I had to get Mel to translate for me."
"Neither did the Delarosas. Reid did most of the talking." Uncle Aaron said. "What'd you guys find?"
JJ told Uncle Aaron and Spencer what the Garcias had told me. As she spoke, I noticed Officer Franco over Spencer's shoulder. He was giving me a look. A look that sent chills down my spine.
As soon as he noticed that I was looking, he looked away. There was something very strange about Officer Franco. I could feel it.
