Standing at the school's front entrance, I sigh with anxiety. I was definitely not prepared enough to deal with another year at this school. Calum stood beside me with a rather large grin on his face, clearly not as annoyed at the amount of people pushing past us in order to get inside. In all honesty, I wasn't sure what the rush was.
"You excited?" Calum asked, turning toward me. I laughed at his question with disbelief. "You're kidding, right?" I questioned, finally getting tired of being shoved forward and pulling Cal by his wrist into the school.
"Come on, Beks. It's not that bad. I mean, we'll get to see Michael and Lissa everyday." he reasoned as I glanced around at the loads of people surrounding us in search of at least one other person we know.
"We already see them everyday. Where are they anyway-" I stopped. One blonde head stood out to me, towering over all the heads of people rushing through the halls. I shook my head. It couldn't be him; it wasn't possible.
"Rebekah? What is it?" Calum asked, laying a hand on my shoulder.
"N-nothing." I assured him, snapping back into reality when I spotted Lissa and Michael making their way toward us. "I.. I thought I saw something. It was just Lissa and Michael, though."
"There you guys are!" Calum shouted to our friends as they got closer. Lissa and Michael were two of Calum and I's closest friends. Lissa and I were mistaken for sisters more often than not, despite her having blonde hair. Calum and Michael acted like they were brothers, constantly acting like siblings, but almost never being apart from each other.
"So your hair's a natural colour now." I noted, eyeing Michael's brown hair and remembering his tendency to dye it a different colour nearly every month. He nodded, grinning proudly.
Lissa began to go on about some back to school party she heard about on Friday that we had to go to, not even caring that I was barely listening. Suddenly, someone coughed beside us, causing both me and Lissa to jump in surprise.
"Sorry about that," a boy with light brown and curly hair chuckled, "but do you mind telling me where the guidance office is?"
"Yeah, of course." I stood on my toes to allow myself to see over the groups of people and pointed forward. "It's just three doors down. Says 'guidance' on it."
"You're new?" Lissa asked, evidently surprised at the fact that we actually has a new student. Everyone usually moved away, rather than moving here.
"Yep!" He confirmed, "just changed schools. I'm Ashton, by the way."
Michael introduced the four of us one by one, before Ashton excused himself so that he could go search for the guidance office.
"Oh, Luke!" Ashton called out into the crowd, "There you are!"
I froze. This couldn't be happening. He couldn't be talking about Luke Hemmings. Not the one that left with no reason as to why he was leaving.
"Rebekah's Luke?" Calum said, making it obvious he was avoiding eye contact with me, just as the others were.
"No, how could it be? He left two years ago, Luke's not coming back anytime soon." Michael shook his head.
But sure enough, the blonde head I spotted in the hall earlier was standing right in front of me, revealing his all too familiar face.
Luke.
Hey guys! Sorry, it's kind of short, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway. I have so many ideas for this story. Thanks for the votes, reads, comments and follows! (Chapter dedicated to JustinsAvenger because she rocks and I mean why not)
