chapter one

Everything began to fall apart when dad died. I could recall dad
telling me that she was going to come home for my matriculation with dad to celebrate. But now, all of that would never happen.
JoJo was playing he's usual video game and I was watching my favorite TV show when aunt Beatrice called.
The Beatrice I knew had never done that but people change and that's exactly what I thought. Were doing great aunt, don't bother besides my mom and dad will soon be back to town and that was all.

Someone was knocking at the door. JoJo screamed and so did I. We were happy that mom and dad were back at least for now and I was certain that I was going to eat good food and JoJo's laundry will be taken care of. As for JoJo I didn't know why he was happy. But he smiled sheepishly that I could see his chocolate teeth.

I got up to get the door and behold guess who I saw? Aunt Beatrice and Declan. They didn't look so happy and my instincts told me maybe mom couldn't make it to town for my matriculation so she asked Declan to stay take care of it. I opened the door wide enough let them in. JoJo was surprised too but he was happy still and glad to see uncle Declan anyways,
He was Declan's favorite. He didn't smile which was unusual he just asked me to get a glass of water and I did. Then aunt Beatrice told JoJo to go to bed.

She stood up from her seat and sat beside me, took my hands and said that 'Mat your dad loves you very much'.
'Yes I know that'... I said. 'Look Beatrice I get it, my mom isn't coming back from Texas and I understand'.
When I said that I saw tears gathering in eyes and I wondered why? She was trying not too push it and so was Declan. I touched her hand and told her I was fine with my dad not coming back but then, why are you crying? I asked

'Matilda your dad won't be coming back he's gone' she said.
'Yes I know that.... I know.. That'. But then all of a sudden I stopped talking trying to understand what she said as I thought for a while.
Fuck!! 'Did she mean my dad was dead? Or is she just over reacting?? . she stood up and left the sitting room still sobbing. I knew something was up and I wanted to run after her  to explain herself. While trying to stand up, Declan pulled me back and said Mat your dad is dead.

I didn't say anything I was shocked as I sat down back. I felt so weak all of a sudden and then I screamed as tears rolled down my cheeks so quickly. Declan hugged me so tight still in shock. I couldn't say anything. I wanted someone to tell me that this was a joke. He wiped my tears and held me so tightly and then finally I got myself.
What what about my Mom I said what about her ....she's not dead too right? I asked
Mat not now he said. Tell meeee!! I screamed.
She's in a vegetative state but the doctors said he'll be fine.
I couldn't hold myself any longer, my life was tearing apart and as if loosing one parent wasn't enough I had lost two.
Can I see my Mom.. I want to see him Declan. I begged please.
'Mat the doctors said they need to see improvement before his ward will be welcomed to people', Beatrice said

'Declan is going to be staying with you guys till things get better and I'm leaving and Mat Take care of yourself she said'.

I walked straight to my room and then laid on my bed I closed my eyes yet sleep didn't come. I closed it more tightly and still nothing happened and then finally almost morning I slept off after crying all night.

Uncle Declan had prepared breakfast and Jojo was playing his usual video game. 'Poor Jojo if he only knew' I said.
I was hungry yet I didn't want to eat. I went back upstairs bushed my teeth and then I got into d shower and I just started crying I didn't know what to do but all I could feel were tears rolling down my cheeks. When I got out of the shower, I parked my brunette hair and put on a black joggers with a pink sport bra, my earpiece and then my phone and ran off.

I jogged till I got to the end of the road when I bumped into Ashley. Our drama Queen since kindergarten and now we were both heading to the same university.
"Matilda".... She screamed.
Hey Ashley. I said in a low tone as I tried to tilt my lips to smile but it wasn't working and I bet Ashley could tell something was wrong.

Matilda are you okay? Ashley asked.
Yes I am ash she hugged me. I'm fine
So where are you heading to? She asked
'Oh I just want to see Carsley', I said
Oh okay say hi to your mom and Jojo for me okay?
When she said this something stroke me and I couldn't breathe.
Matilda .. Mat are you okay?
Omg I better take you home.
'No please' ..I said
Just take me to Carsley's house I said.

Knocks.
Carsley.. Carsley!!! Open up.
Carsley!!!!!
Hey guys what's up?
Huh not the right time for that okay Mat doesn't seem okay.
'Really huh Matilda you brought this crazy bitch to my house' Carsley said.

'Carsley not now' I said.
'Not now.. What's with you too and not now' she said.
I need a glass of water please I'm dying .
Here so what happened to you? You look stuck up?
I dropped the glass and finally I could catch my breath. I explained things to her as tears rolled down my cheeks.

'Mat ure going to get through with this believe me' .Carsley said

Carsley has been my best friend since grade three. She lost her dad when she was very little and her mom is really nice.

My tommy growled and then she laughed and so did Ashley. I'm so sorry I haven't eaten anything since morning.
"It's okay Carsley will make us a delicious meal Ashley said

Huh right.... Yeah a delicious meal just for I and Mat. But you, you're going to walk out that door... Oh I forgot thanks for bringing Mat here now GET OUT!!!!.

Carsley! 'You didn't have to do that to her' I said.
Oh ... Right she's the super girl who saved your life, my bad.
We both laughed, ate and then I felt a lot better. I asked her to walk me home and she did. Goodnight Carsley .. Yeah night Mat

    As I walked into the house, heading to my room. Declan kept staring at me I was expecting him to yell at me but he didn't and finally he called my name.
"Mat.. Matilda .. Where have you been?
That's nothing to worry about besides I'm here. I said
'You haven't had anything since morning and its quarter past seven Matilda' he yelled.

'Why do you care so much huh. Oh I forgot I'm now an orphan who can take care of myself'. 'If you will excuse me' I said as I kept walking.

Mat, Mat I'm talking to you'.
'What for huh to remind me that mg dad is dead or that I haven't had anything since morning'.
Declan not now okay I've had enough things to deal with these few days don't add to it as I banged the door.

Just as I banged the door I sat down for a while thinking on how to wear on a fake smile tomorrow. Yeah tomorrow was my matriculation and I will be seeing old friends and soon I slept off.
