John woke at sunrise burning through the curtains on the windows. Sherlock had gotten impossibly closer to him during the night and had his arms tucked between Johns side and himself.

John smiled warmly down at him and pushed a stray lock out of Sherlocks closed eyes. Sherlock began to stir and his eyelids fluttered open slowly, looking dreamily at john with a dopey smile.

"Morning sleepy head" John said softly, ruffling Sherlocks curls playfully. Sherlock yawned and stretched his arms out over his head, his feet stretching out to the end of the bed.

John smiled and pecked him on the nose making him blush a light pink. John sat up pulling Sherlock with him and giving him a gentle pat on the shoulder before going over to the suitcase.

They got into some fresh clothes and then headed down to the kitchen where Mrs Holmes was making breakfast.

"Morning dears" mrs Holmes said cheerily, pulling them both into a tight hug.

"Mummy I can't breathe" Sherlock gasped. Mrs Holmes let go and smiled at them kissing them both on the cheek before pushing them to sit down at the table.

John sat down next to Sherlock and Mrs Holmes served them toast and jam along with tea. Sherlock nibbled at his, so John coaxed it into his mouth by hand feeding him.

Mycroft came downstairs and ate several bites of toast before even sitting at the table. John greeted him and nudged Sherlock to do the same.

"Morning Sherlock" mycroft said with a tight lipped smile, his emotions hard to control after all that had happened. He wanted to hold his brother tight, increase maximum protection over him from the ministry but he also didn't want to be weakened by sentiment so he faced inner conflict that he struggled with.

Once they had finished breakfast, John and sherlock went for a walk outside the house, wandering in the fields of corn and maize.

"Your family seems nice" John said as they were sat in the grass in the middle of a field.

"Yeah I guess they do, it's weird, it's like nothing changed, same old family no gap between" Sherlock said thoughtfully, plucking a daisy from the grass and examining it.

"Yes and they love you, even I can see that" John said kindly, lying back on the grass, his arms behind his head as a sort of makeshift pillow. John took his left arm from underneath his head and grabbed Sherlocks left shoulder pulling him back to lay on his arm.

"Sooo, what are we planning to do now?" Sherlock asked, plucking petals off the daisy and chucking them overhead.

"Not sure, hey have you seen if you can do a patronus yet?" John asked, his hand trailing up Sherlock arm and down again sending goosebumps over Sherlocks skin.

"No, I don't even know the spell" Sherlock admitted honestly, slipping his wand out from his pocket and twirling it in his fingers.

"I can teach you, I'm sure it will work, why wouldn't it?" John assured, pulling him and Sherlock into a sitting position and slipping his own wand out of his jeans and throwing it up into the air and catching it again.

"I don't know--" Sherlock began uncertainly as he watched John stand up and brandish his wand out in front of him, a burst of blue light out the end and then a ghost of a hedgehog running around them. Sherlock looked on in awe before giggling slightly.

"What's so funny?" John said, trying to be stern but Sherlock could hear the smile in his voice.

"It looks like you" Sherlock exclaimed bursting into a fit of giggles and falling back into the grass.

"Come on, up you get" John commanded, grabbing Sherlocks flailing arm and yanking him to his feet making Sherlock scream.

Sherlock blushed in embarrassment and continued the aftermath of nervous giggling until John went in front of him and cupped his face in his hands and kissed him softly, silencing his giggles and replacing then with a loud gasp as he nipped at his bottom lip and swept his tongue over it before pulling away leaving Sherlock wide eyed and breathing heavily.

"Right so take your wand and you have to think of your happiest memory and then when your ready just throw your arm forward and say expecto patronum" John instructed, taking his own wand in his hand and standing next to Sherlock, "on the count of three"

"One" John began.

"Two" Sherlock joined in.

"Three" they said simultaneously before both saying "expecto patronum" together, Johns hedgehog shot out the end and ran ahead, whereas Sherlocks flowed, building brighter and brighter around him as he fought to think of a happy memory.

John left the hedgehog running round, "okay stop Sherlock, we'll try again" John assured, watching Sherlock drop his arm as the blue disappeared.

"Happy thoughts Sherlock, your best memory in your life and then when your ready" John instructed him, standing behind Sherlock and holding his arm straight and guiding it to the movement as Sherlock uttered the words.

A blue light erupted out the end, stronger than before and an animal burst through the end, john exclaimed happily as an otter began to run around their heads, Sherlock looked on in disbelief as it chased the hedgehog.

"And that my friend looks like you!" John retorted as Sherlock continued to watch before his lips contorted into an exited grin and his eyes alight with mirth.

"Does not look like me!" Sherlock exclaimed, swatting flirtatiously at Johns arm.

"Does too, except I can't decide who's better looking" John teased pushing Sherlock gently making him stumble.

"That was mean!" Sherlock exclaimed, pushing back at John in retaliation and then running slightly ahead.

Joh ran up behind Sherlock and wrapped his arms round Sherlocks waist and lifting him up off the floor before spinning him around making Sherlock squeal and giggle until they collapsed on the floor, too dizzy to stand.

"How's my little otter?" John said softly, holding Sherlock close and making him blush.

"Doing well my little hedgehog" Sherlock replied sweetly, placing a quick kiss on Johns neck.
