After dinner, we all went to our respective rooms, Arika, Alexandria, and I shared a room, while Adian got his own room. My sisters and I got dressed for bed, said our prayers, and got into bed. Arika on the loft, Alexandria under the loft, and my on a normal bed next to the window.

As my sisters drifted to sleep, I stayed up reading my book, The Diamondback Cave. The characters were about to die, and.... My mom opened the door to my bedroom, I reluctantly put down my book.

"Hey, Aspen, sorry to interrupt, but, Kerstan is here, and I'm heading out. I will pick you up from school tomorrow, please help your sisters get ready for school in the morning, and don't stay up too late reading." She was definitely worried she was normally such an organized person, always knowing the days of the week, the exact time.

"Mom, there's no school tomorrow," I reminded her. She looked at me for a moment.

"Oh, right, I thought..." she walked out of the room mid-sentence. She wasn't acting like herself. Maybe it's about dad, I thought. I shrugged it off, telling myself that dad probably stayed late to find something and lost track of time.

I opened my book and read, I finished the book around midnight. I set the book down on my dresser, which I was using as a night stand, and fell asleep instantly.

I woke to a hand covering my mouth. A gloved hand. I opened my eyes, adrenalin waking me up fully, but before my eyes could adjust, a bag was put over my head. It was then that I realized that this wasn't my siblings joking around, none of them were strong enough to pick me up the way this person- adult, I could tell- was picking me up. I tried to yell, but my voice caught. I struggled trying to get myself free, I managed to break free for a moment being dropped to the ground. Alexandria made a sound, she had woken up.

"Alex! Save me! Help!" I said. Still not able to yell. I could hear her running into the person picking me up and she punched the person. Then the door to my bedroom opened.

"What's going on?!" Kerstan said turning on the light. I could see the light through the bag, I felt a breeze from outside, "who are you? Drop her, now. I'm calling the cops."

I was still wriggling trying to get out, when the person started moving again. I heard my bed creak and I felt the air get suddenly colder and knew I had been taken outside, I heard a car start, close to where I was. I felt warmer air, and the vibrations of a car and then heard the door close. Driving. I felt the familiar turns, dips, and roughness of my neighborhood. I felt someone grab my wrists, I yanked my hand away, and towards my head, taking off the bag.

I saw two people. A man, the one who tried to grab my hands, I saw rope in his hand and knew he was going to tie my hands together, he was wearing a mask like a cartoon thief. The person in the front, driving the car, was a woman with short chopped blond hair. I would have complemented it if I met her on the street, not right after I was kidnapped.

"Mind telling me what's going on?" I asked. "You just turned the wrong way, my home is behind us now, but you can drop me off here, I know my way back." We passed my school.

"You'll cooperate if you know what's good for you." The man said in a deep southern drawl. His voice carried so much authority, and was, honestly, so terrifying even for the situation, I decided to keep my mouth shut. He took this opportunity, and tied my hands together.

I decided to test my luck, while the man was looking out the window, I grabbed the car door handle, and pulled, it was dificult with my hands tied, but tied in front of me was easier than if my hands had been tied behind me. The child lock wasn't on, so I ended up flying out of the car, I landed on the pavement, with a few scrapes and bruises, and I thought I had sprained my wrist, but I just stood up and ran away from the car, I ran to the nearest house and tried to jump the fence. I couldn't get a good enough grip on the spokes.
