I was in shock, a hostage situation? Where my parents were? No wonder Kerstan sent me downstairs. I walked down the stairs, completely numb. My siblings saw me. They got up from the couch where they had been watching tv, and came over to me, to give me hugs, even Adian, who thought hugs were to girly for him.
I couldn't hear what they were saying, I was so numb. The realistic part of me told me that they probably weren't shot, but the tragedy, drama, I just-got-kidnapped-anything-could-happen part of me told me otherwise. I heard the police leave and decided to call Susan, she was probably worried, it's strange, I thought, we just met and now I'm talking about her like I've known her as long as I've known Rachel. I walked up the stairs to the office, I had been holding the paper with Susan's number on it since she gave it to me. I picked up the phone and dialed her number, the tone dial rang twice before she answered.
"Hello, is this Susan?" I asked.
"Yes, is this Aspen?" Susan asked.
"Yes It is I made it to my house safely."
"Oh, good, I was starting to worry about you. If you hadn't called in about three minutes, I would have called the cops to make sure you didn't die or something."
"Well, it's Saturday, which is usually pretty chill, and I don't have to go to school, and all of the drama that would lead to."
"You do realize that over the weekend, reporters, officers, and everyone will be coming to your house to get the story? By the time school starts back up, everyone will know three versions of the story, you will be the most popular."
"You do realize that if you move here, you will be hailed as a hero?"
"Oh! Speaking of which, I'm going to Park View Middle School. Where do you go?"
"Park View. When are you moving?"
"In three weeks."
"Great. I have to go, but I'll talk to you later."
"Bye. See you in school."
I didn't need to go, but there was a lot on my mind. Would I actually be noticed in school? Would Susan come, not as a new kid, but as a hero? I didn't get time to think, there was a knock at the door.
Kerstan answered the door.
"I am live with the Rhode Island News, and I'm here at Aspen Carmelo's house." The news lady said.
"I'm sorry, but Aspen is not available for interview." Kerstan responded.
"It's fine. I'll do it." If there was already one news person here many more were to come, they won't stop for a closed door, they will do anything to get the story.
"Is it true, Aspen, that you were kidnapped last night and escaped you kidnapper?" The news lady asked without waiting for Susan to respond.
"Yes, it is." I responded.
"Well, could you tell us what happened?"
"I was taken out of my bed in the middle of the night, and someone put me in a car, when they started driving, I was able to get the bag off of my head, I decided to jump out of the car eventually, and ended up not getting very hurt. I ran to a house, where a very kind man let me in, and I stayed the night. A police officer came to pick me up this morning, and I got home a few minutes ago." I decided that the police were the only people who needed to know about the fake officer.
"What could you tell us about your capturer?"
"He was wearing a mask most of the time."
"What color mask?"
