Castiels pov

My body was frozen, and I just stared at the ceiling of my room. The stray cat I let sleep at my place once from weeks ago was strung up in the stall, it's dead and rotted body disfigured and grotesque. I let out a groan, moving and sitting up in bed. Dean was off who knows where doing who knows what. One week has passed since that disturbing incident and the woman hasn't come since, nor have I heard from her. Lily and Amelia have been coming more often all week, and I didn't mind it. More people were at church and my house was more full and had a full pantry and fridge. Everything was great, perfect, except for the fact I couldn't stop thinking about him.

About Dean.

I don't know how it happened, but he's grown on me and I...I miss him. Maybe I should've stayed there with him, but what's done is done. Sam disappeared shortly after Dean did, but it's none of my business where he nor his brother went. Even if I was dying to know where Dean was. I have some twisted form of Stockholm syndrome, I think so.

To the point: my life's great but I feel the opposite.

"Castiel, I made some cookies, you have rarely any treats here!" Amelia shouted from my kitchen, coaxing me out of my room to meet her. Lily skipped in, holding my tv remote. "The show's on, I'm excited! We're all bonding and it's so great!" She squealed, snatching a cookie before darting off through my apartment. "Is Benny coming?" I asked curiously. Benny was an old high school friend, as well as college. We used to be pretty close before Dean entered my life, so I'm using this as an opportunity to make up for lost time.

Amelia nodded her head, both of our attentions turning to the doorway. Adam stood there, smiling sheepishly and rubbing the back of his blond hair. He reminded me of someone, but it didn't matter. "Adam?" I asked, standing up to greet him. "I didn't know you were coming, come, sit." Smiling warmly at him, he went and sat by Lily, who had returned from running around my apartment wildly.

Honestly, this kinda felt good. When Benny gets here, it would be like I actually belonged, that I was normal again. Somehow, I think these people are going to be my friends. "Excuse me," I exited the room and went into the kitchen, pulling out my phone and staring at it as it buzzed in my hands. It was a foreign number, which was odd considering I hardly ever got unknown calls.

It died down before buzzing back to life again quickly, making me roll my eyes. To tell the other person on the other line to stop calling, I picked up the call and began to speak. "Listen, you have the wrong number so stop calling." Nothing ensued after; no, 'I'm sorry for bothering you,' or 'Oh, okay.'

"Castiel Novak, come to your church quickly, Benny needs you."

My muscles tensed, and while their voice seemed reasonable and believable, I knew it was a lie. "Why is he there?" I answered slowly, jaw clenched tight with issue. I didn't know whether to trust my instinct or trust the voice. People had reasons to lie, so why wouldn't he be lying? "Well, he seems to have gotten lost around town."

"Impossible, he knows the town like the back of his hand."

By now, I was just dragging the conversation along, hoping to get them to spit out the truth by themselves. "Ah, yes, he does, but he was told you moved and he couldn't find you. Can you come pick him up?" I leaned on the counter, phone held by my ear, face stoic. "Give the phone to him, then." It was silent. "Don't you trust me?"
