You, Mark, and Sean piled into the car.

"You ready to rock it, (y/n)?" Mark said.

You smiled, "sure am."

Sean pumped his fists, "so pumped for this!"

"Told ya you'd be invited here again!" Mark chirped.

"Well, I'm honestly still surprised about that." You elbowed Mark, "at least SOMEBODY didn't get their scheduling wrong this time."

Mark helped you haul your keyboard into Great Brews. After you set it up, Sean high fived you. "You got dis! Road to stardom here you come!"

"Yeah, right," you laughed.

Mark hugged you, "good luck. Not that you'll need it."

"Thanks Mark."

As you made your way up to the stage, Mark smiled and gave you a thumbs up. You picked up the microphone and took a deep breath. "This song goes out to my boyfriend Mark," you gestured towards Mark as he beamed. "Some of you may recognize this from last year. I wrote it after we met to show how much he meant to me. I didn't do so well last year," the crowd laughed softly, "so I'd like to try again."

You started the song with confidence, "Saw you next door, tried to catch your eye,"

You smiled at Mark, "you smiled at me, and I don't know why, but you have me a chance, and noooooow,"

You made sure to belt the chorus as Mark smiled proudly and Sean's jaw dropped. "When I'm with you, my knees feel weak, my voice cracks, I can barely even speak. You're my getaway, you're my getaway."

People applauded loudly as you smiled. You had to restrain yourself from laughing as Sean and Mark hooped and hollered.

After you got off the stage, Mark hugged you, "amazing. You really nailed it."

"Wow. Mark said you could sing, but I didn't think you could sing like that!"

You smiled and blushed, "thanks guys."

You were sitting at home watching t.v. You were cuddled up next to Mark as Sean was finishing packing when you received a text from your boss.

I need you to come in an hour early to work tomorrow.

You sighed and told Mark. Mark looked at you seriously, "look, (y/n). I know this isn't exactly the life you imagined when you moved here. I couldn't be more happy that I met you. You've changed my life for good, and I couldn't be more happy. But, I know you didn't really want to end up working at a coffee shop. So, I'm sorry that things didn't exactly turn out like you wanted it to.

"Look, Mark. You have a point, there. I didn't expect things to end up like this. I didn't expect to end up working at a coffee shop, I didn't expect my channel to die so quickly, I didn't expect to meet and become friends with Sean, and I certainly didn't expect to meet you."

You held Mark's hands as you continued. "Really, this isn't the life I was after when I moved here. This was all very," you paused, looking for the right word, "unexpected. But, all of this is the best thing that could ever happen to me. I still get to sing, sometimes even onstage. And, meeting you was the best part of all of this."

You pulled Mark's lips to yours as you whispered, "so, I think the unexpected is the best thing that could ever happen to me."
