It had been a few days since Jack and I talked. Even though we sat beside each other in math and French, he didn't acknowledge me or anything. He seemed pretty mad but I still didn't completely understand why.
It was finally the weekend and, as usual, I woke up at noon. Or at least I thought it was noon...
You see, my body has a weekend ritual that is as the following: sleep, wake up at noon, stay in bed on the phone or other electronic devices until 1:30, stomach hurts enough for me to want food, I don't eat until 3.
There is no deviation from this schedule. None whatsoever....unless something bad is going on.
First of all, Goobs was barking at my face. I looked over at my digital clock and it was like 8 twenty-something. I tried to turn away from Goobs' dog breath but he wouldn't shut up.
"Goobs," he instinctively stopped barking at the sound of his name, "you have three options. You can go wake up mom so you can pee, you can hold you pee, or you can shut your pie hole. Either way, this body is not leaving this bed until 3 on the dot, kapiche?"
Suddenly my phone, which was 3 inches from my face, started ringing and Goobs began to to bark furiously. Once I unlocked my phone, I realized I had 7 missed calls from Jack and there was another incoming call from him.
"Hello?" I cringed at my horrid morning voice.
"Um..." There was a click at the other end and all I heard was the dial tone.
"Well it looks like today's gonna be a long day, Goobs," I sighed. My cute little dog barked in agreement. He knew what we were doing today.
I quickly showered and dried off. I threw on a faded pair of jeans, my aztec printed Keds, and a simple black hoodie.
Unlike the perfect girls at my school, I couldn't throw on perfect eyeliner in two minutes. My face is slightly uneven so cat eyeliner only works half of the time. Out of frustration, I just wiped off all traces of makeup.
As I explained before, ponytails are a whole other problem. Another weird position and ten minutes later, I finally had my hair in a decent ponytail.
"Goobs leggo!" I pointed to his purple leash that was draped on my bedroom doorknob. He excitedly snatched it and ran towards me so I could take him for a walk.
"I'm walking on sunshine! WOAH!" I began to sang as Goobs and I walked out of the house and into the winter sunshine. Goobs quickly barked at me to cut me off.
"Well okay then. I guess we won't walk on sunshine today." I swear sometimes I think Goobs is like a little person.
A very hairy little person with dog breath....
"Okay Goobs now you know we have to stop at Starbucks before we head to the park." We were walking up to Starbucks by then. As usual, they didn't really allow pets but I was a bit of a regular customer and I always came on Saturdays before Goobs' morning walk.
"Welcome to Starbucks!" Her name was Chelsea. She was a very popular girl at Golden Brook High. Not like cheerleader popular. More like friends with all the cheerleaders, rich family and head of every club in school type of girl. And somehow, somewhere in her busy schedule she found the time to be mean to me and only me.
"Why hello Alice. I hope you know that pets are not allowed in here." Kelly scowled at me but quickly smiled because the manager, Mike, had come out from the back room.
"Chelsea it's okay. She's a regular and the dog is very well behaved," Mike then turned to me, "What can I get for you, babe?" He half smiled at me as he leaned on the counter.
