The Powers I Didn't Want

I think I can see my hut from here!

So much happened so fast from that point on. I knew what I wanted to do after just one day, but it was a lot harder than it seemed. Athena and Poseiden supported me though. Well I was asleep that day they sent Hades to that camp to take anyone who wanted to hurt me. When I woke up, I was back in that camp. My mother left me a message though. It said that she loved me, and that she wanted me to practice my powers there, because she didn't have enough time to teach me at that point because I had so much to learn still.

I spent years at that camp learning, practicing, becoming great. Every morning I would wake up and hope that my parents would come and get me. I knew I would miss my friends, but I wanted so bad to be with my parents, and fight real battles with them, not just practice battles here.

One day I woke up to find myself in that same bed I had been in 5 years before, when I was 16 and my parents brought me up here.

I awaken to Poseiden and Athena, my parents, above me. "Josie, we have been watching you, and we now know that you are mean't to be a god up here, but there is just one major problem, us." My dad doesn't talk in riddles like I imagened he would, but thats okay because he is talking about me being a god, which has been a goal of mine for so long. I do want to know what he means when he says major problem though, and that is why I listen very closely when he starts to talk again. "We are both different gods so usually you would become your own god, but Zeus doesn't want anymore new gods because the gods currently are in a bit of a fight-" My dad is cut off by my mom.

"Don't lie to her! We are in a god war right now, but don't worry, we have had these before and it was fine then so it will be fine now. Zeus doesn't want anymore gods right now though because they could gang up with their parents and that wouldn't be fair to the other gods." This is a crushing blow to me. Everything I worked so hard for is over in less then five minutes when I worked for more then 5 years.

"So there isn't a thing we can do? What about all my hard work?" I am heart broken and I show it.

"We brought you up here for you to learn from the gods up here so when the war is over you can be a great god."

"I will be so alone though, can't I bring a friend up here or something? Please?"

"Fine, but you will have to get the okay from their parents. Who did you have in mind?"

"Sam, she is Medusa's daughter. Can you bring her up here so we can go talk to Medusa?"

My dad gives a look to mom when she looks like she is about to talk, and she stays quiet so he can talk. "Like we said there is a war going on right now, things like that could tick off Medusa, and we don't want her to get mad at us even though we can beat her in a battle. You aren't a god so you should be fine just walking outside and learning about the other gods some, but just in case you do get in a fight Athena will stay here while I take care of talking to Medusa. Sound good?"

"Yeah, I guess. Thanks dad!" I get out of bed and follow my mom outside.We are on Mount Olympus, and I can see everything from here. We are up so high its amazing.

"I'll be around if you need me, don';t get yourself in any fights though okay?"

"Okay mom, I won't try to." My mom leaves and its only seconds before I get myself in a fight.

"What are you doing here? Your not a god. Who brought you up here? It doesn't matter, either way I will kill you!"
