I'm tired of
Smiling through my tears,
And pretending they're not
Burning my face.
I'm tired of
Saying 'I'm okay' every time
You ask me what's wrong.
I'm tired of
Stretching my lips ear to ear,
When all I want is to let go,
And break down.
I'm tired of
Fake-laughing at your jokes,
When the voices in my head
Didn't even let me
Hear what you said.
And then,
You say I'm rude.
Imagine smiling wide
After getting slapped
Hard across the face.
Now imagine doing it
All day long,
Everyday.
