Alice hung up the phone in panic, and ran to Kate's house. The house wasn't far but to Alice the path seemed endless. She ran as fast as she could, telling herself that this wasn't real, that Kate didn't die. But still at the back of her mind she imagined the worst.
She entered Kate's house in panic, and as she did she saw out of the corner of her eye Kate's lifeless body. Alice felt a shiver, as her entire body started to shake at the sight. Kate's white hair, her black eyes, now closed, her pure white skin.
"Alice..." -Kate's mother said with a shaky voice. Alice couldn't move, she was paralysed at the sight of her best friend being now gone. Only the tears that filled her eyes dripped onto the dirty wooden floor. All of her memories with Kate ran through her eyes in a matter of seconds. All of the joy and happiness that she used to feel has now been replaced with sorrow. Alice didn't even notice that Kate's mother was hugging her until she let go. "Alice...Kate left a note for you." -she said while handing a note to Alice with her shaky hands.
Alice opened the note which has been folded into quarters and read it while her tears were still dripping on the floor.
"Dear Alice, if you are reading this, then you have to know that I am immensely sorry for all the things that I have done to you. You are my best friend, but I have always loved you as a sister. This is not your fault! I want you to remember this and not blame yourself in the future! This is not your fault!" -Alice turned the piece of paper and continued to read what Kate has written.
"I want you to look inside the left pocket of my jacket. Remember it? This is the bottle that we used to sneak gin in when we were in the beginning of highschool. I want you to keep it as one more memory of me, as one more memory of all the stupid thing that we have done together.
