The street lamps illuminated the coblestone road that Alice had passed on to get to Kate's house. The night was dark and starless, causing the shadows, casted by the light of the black lamps, to appear even sharper than usual. Alice walked slowly onto the road, still holding the tiny bottle and still crying for her lost friend. She lost a part of herself when she saw Kate just laying at the floor of her room. She held onto the glass bottle as tightly as she could, thinking that it could have gone another way, thinking that she could have saved Kate.
Suddenly she saw a white cat, just sitting there at the middle of the coblestone road. Alice saw peace in the beautiful animal, it was clean, undamaged.
"...go on, we're so close...."- Alice's memories of Kate hit her like a hammer. She remembered those lovely moments, in which they would go around the town together and chase the stray cats just to see where they would go.
"...go on, you're so close."- She heard Kate's voice in her head, while looking at the white cat.
Out of nowhere the cat started running away, still following the coblestone road. Alice ran after it without a second thought in mind. After running onto the cobblestone road for what seemed like an eternity, the cat decided to go into an alley without an escape. It was a dead end. Only one window was open, screeching from the light wind. The cat swiftly jumped through it and Alice peaked in, to see if it was somebody's house, or just another useless room. By the emptiness that Alice saw, it was clear ther the place was abandoned. She carefully jumped through the window, landing softly on the stone floor. Alice took a few steps forward and then she heard the window loudly closing. She tried to open it but unsuccessfully, it was stuck. Alice couldn't see anything from the darkness that was surrounding her, there wasn't even the tiniest bit of light in this god forsaken room. She quickly searched through her pockets to find her lighter, or anything that could give her a bit of light.
When she lit the flame of her lighter she saw a table, with an almost burnt out candle. Without hesitation she lit it, causing the room to get brighter by the second. There was a door, the stuck window, that she got through, and some rotten pieces of wood. The cat that Alice was chasing was nowhere to be found.
She decided to try in opening the door. She puched and pulled multiple times only to find out that it was locked. She went near the pieces of wood laying on the floor, she moved a few of them, expecting to find nothing.
"...Alice, only a fraction of things are logical..."- She remembered the note and started tearing up. Alice broke one piece of the rotten wood, out of all the anger and sadness that she felt. After she broke the piece, she saw something shining from the broken end of one of the pieces that she broke the wood into. It was a key. She quickly grabbed it and tried to unlock the door. Rotating the key clockwise, then counter clockwise, she heard a sharp snap. When Alice opened the door and passed through it she felt the sudden change in the temperature, and was amazed at what she saw."Always late, now isn't she?"...
