Chapter 12: Confused

3rd POV

It's been a week since Marc and Jasmine have seen each other.

It was the night of celebration for the engagement of Mia and Lucias and both of them are bound to see each other. The last time they communicated was when Marc just asked where she was and that was it, and Jasmine was both relieved..and sad about it.

She was relieved because it gave her time to think and although it takes time to heal and move on, at least she knows that this was it. She was thankful to her brother because he made this possible for her. All of them knew that their parents wouldn't allow this.

It was still painful and she can never stop herself from crying. Despite all the horrid things Marc did to her, she would always think the good memories with him. And that, she still loved him.

She swallowed hard. Jasmine sighed and shook her head.

"It's gonna be fine.. you're gonna be okay.." Jasmine gave herself a sad smile.

It was already Thursday night and the party was full on blast, people were dancing and laughing. Everybody had a great time.

Except for Marc.

He was still angry that her sister was adamant on letting him come here on time. He was going to come but just a lil' bit late – he was busy spending sometime with Maria.

He chuckled.

He couldn't wait this Saturday for his 3 month business deal trip which happens every year and for this year, he's going to be in New York.He had some unfinished business and new projects there which is under his name now, not his father's. For the first time, he will be alone for the trip and not with his father. This was the first step on being a professional businessman and he couldn't wait for the challenge. Also.. Maria will be staying there for a month for her shootings.

I can't wait. He thought.

As the party goes by, Marc saw his sister and his best friend doing their rounds and talking animatedly with the other people.

Mia gasped.

"JASMINE!!"Mia shouted excitedly and excused herself.

Jasmine laughed as Mia ran towards her and hugged her so tight.

"Can't..breathe.."Jasmine wheezed out.

"Bitch you deserve this. I missed you!!" Mia exclaimed. Jasmine couldn't helped but chuckle.

She missed her bestfriend too. She was alone and was consumed all of her thoughts to him. But she had to do what she needs to do.

Marc can't help but stare at Jasmine. Something about her just...he couldn't point it out but there is something and he doesn't know what it is.

There was no denying that she's beautiful because she is..

For the first time, she had minimal makeup on showing her specks of freckles across her face. Her blue eyes stood out from her long-curled lashes, she had a hint of peach colored cheeks that looked fresh on her. Her used to be annoying long ombre fake blonde hair extensions was gone and her light mocha hair tress gracefully shined in the light. For all could Marc know, he was sure that she didn't have any lipstick on but just maybe lip balm because her cherry luscious lips were full on as she smiles brightly into the room.

She was wearing a creamy white off shoulder figure fitting dress that flowed from the waist down to her thighs. Even though the dress was a bit short, she managed to looked like an innocent angel – not trashy. Marc knew that Jasmine had some freckles on her shoulder blades from the nights they were together, but she always cover it up with layers of makeup because she didn't like her freckles, in fact she hated them.

He didn't know why there was something about Jasmine that changed but never really changed? It confused him.

Marc realized that it's been a week since they've seen and talked to each other. Both of them never cared into communicating – she didn't call/text and he was...busy.

A hard clap from the back made Marc lost his thoughts.

"Who you looking at buddy?" Lucias asked.

"Huh? Uhh no one.. just.. I didn't even know that I was looking at something." Marc recovered quickly. He didn't want Lucias to know that he was looking at Jasmine.

"Jasmine!Hey!! We missed you! And your food!" Lucias couldn't help but truly miss Jasmine, she was like the baby sister he wished he had.

Jasmine rolled her eyes. "Of course you'll say something like that" but still chuckled.

Jasmine was nervous being near to Marc but she had to act cool and calm.

"Oh hey, heard you're going to have your yearly business trip this Saturday alone? Excited?" Marc looked at Jasmine.

Is that all she's gonna say? I mean come'on, we haven't seen each other for a week! Marc thought.

"Uh yeah, kind of." Marc replied. She nodded, "that's good" she said. Marc looked deeply on Jasmine and saw that she was genuinely happy and excited.

There was an awkward silence between the four of them but they didn't let it show but Mia and Lucias excused themselves because they have to do their rounds with the newly arrived people. It was just the two of them now.

As Jasmine was busy admiring the people around, Marc couldn't help himself but stare at her again. He knew it was creepy but it was hard not to stare at her silky soft skin.

"Is there something wrong? You've been staring at me.." Jasmine asked skeptically.

"Oh no.. just no.. You looked beautiful tonight by the way." Marc truthfully said.

Jasmine just gave him a tight smile "Thanks." – and that was all she said. No reactions, no blush, no sexy eye or something like she used to do. She didn't even kiss him. She would always greet him with a kiss or hug but now just a small smile.

"You look good too" She said back. Marc smirked.

"So..how was your trip to your aunt? Must be fun? I didn't even know that you had an aunt that lives 5 hours away from here" Marc chuckled. Jasmine smiled.

"Yeah it was good and relaxing." Marc nodded.

"Wh—"Jasmine cut him off.

"Sorry but I have to go to the restroom now.. Is it okay?"

Marc didn't want her to go just yet, he just had her but he nodded. Jasmine didn't wait for Marc to say something else and just rushed gracefully towards the restroom.

As Jasmine entered the bathroom she released a long tired sigh and put her hands on her fast beating heart.

It's gonna be fine.. She thought.
