Chapter 1
"Alpha! There you are!"
A masculine voice called out. Haven raised a brow though not pausing from scavenging through the pad of papers she had on her hand.
"Something wrong?"
She asks, her voice holding a serious tone as she held a paper close to her face and squinted her eyes at what seemed to be little words written on the stationary she was holding.
She could hear the newcomer's shuffling. "The barricade up the north is finished. We've sent a dozen of our guards up there for a rounding." The alpha nodded.
"Good. Thank you for your help."
The messenger muttered a welcome before scuffling off outside the house. When she heard the door close, she let out a sigh as she sat down on the wooden chair behind the wooden desk.
That certainly added to the help. Ever since the last week, often would humans come into the dark forest, her pack's territory, and venture out. One thing she hated was having intruders.
Unless you were truely welcome, she wouldn't mind having you visit. But of course, she wasn't like this before. She was alot more friendlier towards others, whether they were humans, elves, or other creatures. A kind one, if you will.
Until that day. That horrible day.
She shook her head to get rid of the thought. Thinking, that was always she'd been doing most of the time now. Not like she did before but she was the pack leader. She may be the alpha but she was now left to lead it alone.
"Ugh..."
Haven ran a hand down her face in a frustrated manner. She breathed a long sigh before sitting in silence. She needed peace.
A few minutes later, she stood up and left the hut. She was greeted with a light cool midday breeze. It wasn't too hot, rather, it was cloudy and nice. Just what she likes.
She looked up ahead before walking. She didn't know where she was going, what was her destination but she just mindlessly followed wherever her feet took her. And she knew the forest because obviously, it was her territory. She knew every inch and end the forest had.
Soon then, she found herself almost near a clearing. She finally stopped before realizing that she was near the border of where the forest ended and the next was where they were; the humans.
However there was a stretch of grass only and no sign of human nor human structures could be seen.
'Feet, why the heck did you take me here?'
She mentally scolded her body parts. She sighed as she found getting mad at her feet was incredibly ridiculous. She turned around to walk back.
Suddenly, in a blink, something flew past her. Her body stopped moving for a second before walking towards where the...thing landed to. Her brows furrowed as she looked into a bush and saw a ..red flat round looking thingy. She thought.
'What the heck?'
Confusion was written in her face as she crouched down and picked up the object. She turned the thing around, inspecting it. Her eyes landed on the sticker on the flat part of the object.
"Belmond. Flying disk. What the..."
She muttered with a raised eyebrow until she perked up to the sound of a twig crack. On alert, she immediately hid behind the thick bushes and hid, her eyes carefully scanning through the trees.
Then she heard a voice.
"Damn it, where the heck did it flew off to?" It was feminine. Haven's eyes landed on the stranger, and then she felt cautious as her hazel eyes turned into a yellowish hue, heightening her wolf senses. This way she could be ready if ever the stranger was hostile.
The stranger was no doubt a human, and by god did the girl had a strong scent. The moment her senses kicked in, she was greeted by a very delicious smell that caught her by surprise. She watched the other girl, her grip on the object slightly tightening, her heart suddenly beating fast.
Her wolf was on alert. Like it was frantic, looking everywhere, and made a low howl as if it were speaking.
She had a rather strange feeling just seeing the girl and she didn't know why. As she was preoccupied with her thoughts, the girl already neared where she was hiding. She quickly snapped from her thoughts and stopped moving.
One move then the girl would find her.'Think fast, Haven!' She exclaimed in her mind. Then, she placed the object slowly out of the bushes without trying to get caught. A few seconds later, the stranger let out a happy sound.
"Ah! There is it! Thank god, I found it. Alie would have killed me if I didn't find it."
The stranger bended down and took the disk. Then, Haven finally got a look on the girl's features.
Her eyes widened a little as everything seemed to slowly down and suddenly, all she could hear was how loud her heartbeat was. Her mouth slightly opened as she stared. A second after, the girl stood up straight once again before turning around and walking away.
For some reason, Haven frowned as the scent slowly faded away. It was intoxicating. Her wolf was whimpering and paced back and forth like it's favorite thing had been taken away.
The alpha breathe out a sigh. She hadn't realized that she was holding her breath until the girl finally left.
She looked down at her hands before looking up again. She stood up before turning and quickly walking back to the way she had first came out from.
Her hand gripped on the side of her chest, right where the loud beating was, where she could feel it.
She should have been angry by now because a human had crossed into her territory. But it seemed like all of that, the anger and hatred, disappeared in a flash once she smelled her scent.
She also hated how good it was. She hated how she wanted more. She hated how she was feeling these things. These things that only had appeared back then when her mate was alive.
But damn, she also loved it.
