Before I knew it, I was already entering the cafeteria. My friends and I never sat there anyways, but Mia told me to meet her there. Strange.
Looking around the large room, I tried to spot my short friend. Not finding her anywhere, I take a deep breath and search again, looking properly this time.
Thankfully, I saw her waving her arms, standing next to the door that leads to the school courtyard. Letting out a breath of relief I started heading towards her.
Not paying much attention to my surroundings, I found myself walking into a wall- or what felt like a wall. Rubbing my head and groaning, I looked up to see who the 'wall' was. Blake Hill, what a coincidence- not really we go to the same school but still.
I find him glaring at me for a second before his eyebrows furrowed. I was confused by his expression but I apologized and walked past him towards my fun-sized best friend.
"What was that all about?" she asks me right as I get to her.
I tilt my head in confusion, "What do u even mean, nothing happened." I grab her hand and drag her outside, "Why did you wanna meet up there anyway?".
Seemingly forgetting her question from before, her face lit up and she lets out a high pitched squeal. Flinching away from her, I cover my ears and wait patiently. This was a normal occurrence with Mia.
"Oh, oh!! Belle finally talked to me again! She asked to hang out at the cafe!" She told me excitedly. As soon as it sunk in, my smile grew and I hugged her.
"No way, is it a date?" I asked, Her face fell slightly as she shook her head, "At least it's progress right?", shrugging her shoulders she turned and started heading over to the tree we frequented during the past few years.
Mia wasn't straight, but she didn't put a label on herself. She liked whoever she liked and she was a carefree soul. Her parents didn't know and I don't think she'll be telling them anytime soon. Despite that, she was close to her dad, and she knew if anything he would never judge her for her sexuality.
I think the reason she's holding off from telling him is that she's afraid of what he'd say, maybe she didn't want him to be disappointed in her. She didn't do anything wrong for him to be disappointed, but she has her reasons.
As we sit and wait at the tree, shaded from the sun rays, I look around. This is going to be our last year at this place, strangely, I felt sad for a moment. I've always wanted to leave this town because of what happened...
"Yo yo yo! what's up, baby?" Luca says startling me.
"The sky." I deadpan dryly as he stares at me with his doe eyes. Chuckling lightly I pull him into a hug, "I missed you dumbass," He pulls away from the hug and ruffles my hair.
I glare at him and punch his arm, he yelped and started rubbing his arm, glowering at me. I really did miss him, he's the brother I never had.
Giving him a small smile I turn to see the rest of the group arriving- the rest being Nick and Sophie. They happen to be wrapped up in each other, unsurprisingly as they've been a couple for over a year.
I jump up to go hug Sophie as she's the one I missed the most, I saw everyone else in the group throughout the summer but since they all went on vacations with their families (Sophie leaving the earliest), we didn't spend a lot of time together.
She stumbles back but still keeps her balance, "I missed you so much, never leave us for that long again."
She laughs and hugs me tighter before pulling away, "Did you forget about me?" Nick says excitedly. I chuckle as he pulls me into a hug, he gives the best hugs ever and it feels as if I'm hugging a teddy bear.
We all sit back down in a circle as they talked about our summer, I zoned out after a while and started thinking of the university applications.
Where did I want to end up? Definitely not around here. Should I send in an audition tape for Julliard? Was I even good enough?
All these questions ran through my head and it started stressing me out, so I tuned back into the conversation.
"-So we went skinny dipping and the water was so cold that it shrivelled up!" I hear Sophie saying, laughing I asked her why they jumped into the ocean in the first place.
"Weren't you list- never mind it's you, it was a dare from this group of teenagers we were hanging out with at the beach!" She continued animatedly moving her hands around as she explained.
I'm glad they had a fun summer, sadly mine wasn't as great as theirs. We heard the bell ringing, signalling the end of our break. Rolling my eyes, I got up, pulling Mia up with me.
I threw my arm around her shoulders as we said goodbye to the rest and headed towards our Art class with Luca. The teacher was nowhere to be found, as usual, so we continued to chat until she decided to show up.
A strange, small woman rushes into the class, muttering under her breath.
"Hello, students! I'm Ms Harper but you guys can just call me Maddie if that's what you'd prefer, I'm your art teacher for this year. As long as you try your best you will pass this class." She announces.
Standing there, the whole class just stares at her silently. She clasps her hands together as she began to talk again, "O..kay, I'll go around the room, would you please introduce yourself?" She looks at the first person at the front row, urging him with her eyes to start talking.
After that I tuned them all out and turned to look out the window, my eyes aimlessly looked around outside until a tall figure caught my eye. Was that... Blake? I saw him punch a tree before heading towards the parking lot.
I never thought I'd see someone punch a tree, but here we are. I tilted my head in confusion and looked back towards the front of the classroom.
Apparently I turned back at the perfect time because it was my turn to introduce myself.
"My name's Cece," I say simply as I stand. Her eyes urged me to continue but I sat back down, forcing her to move onto the person next to me.Hey you guysss this was a fun chapter to write i hope you liked it. I heard about Naya rivera passing a few hours ago and it was heart breaking i hope she rests in peace. Anyways Blake seems mysterious huh, and Cece's always confused apparently ahahha.
