Will was worried, I knew that. But there is no way I would let a monster threaten my home. The only home I'd ever known. We'd arrived at the barrier. Annabeth, Percy, Frank, Hazel, Jason, and I formed a tight circle to see from all angles. Frank saw it first. We formed a line an lunged, this thing got through the barrier. Annabeth's blade sunk true into the monster. It roared and leaped to attack her. Percy looked heartbroken. He would never get there fast enough, he was too far. Annabeth was horrified, she was not ready to die.
I did the only knowledgeable thing. I jumped. In that split second, I made all the difference. I saved Annabeth. She was, rather brutally, pushed away from the demon. It was on me. The second Annabeth was gone was the second it was on me. It could've been her. I couldn't do that to them. I felt an excruciating pain in my thigh, then I was out.
I woke up to soft murmurs around me. One was Piper.
"Will, it has been three weeks. I think you need to face the possibili-"
She was cut off by a voice that I loved. Will's. But he was sobbing. Why?
"Piper. No." The voice was close. I guessed that was the once holding my hand.
"Will?" I croaked in a raw voice. All in unison, over 40 people screeched,"NICO?!?!?" I forgot about them all. I started to have a panic attack. "Will!" I was out of breath. "Will!" I was sweating. Hands ran through my hair and rubbed the back of my knuckles.
"I'm here. Right here. You're safe Nico." I felt safe, but that didn't stop the hyperventilation. It didn't stop my panicked screams for Will. It didn't stop my heart from beating fast. "Will!" I screamed again. My stupid accent made it sound like "Weel!" Which he loved. I felt reassuring hands on my chest. A panicked voice. I think Jason.
"There is no way his heart should beat that fast!" Dozens of hands on my rapidly rising and falling chest. Shocked gasps. Will seemed broken.
"It's my name he's screaming. I can usually help him in a minute. This is bad! You don't- You- You don't understand!" I heard Will's voice and stopped screaming. I felt him running his hands through my hair. I peeled open my eyes and stared into Will's blue ones. I struggled to speak.
"Annabeth? Did I save her?" Will gave a dry laugh.
      "Yes. You did."
