That was supposed to kill Will. That's what they all said. Instead, there he was, unconscious next to me in his cot. Everyone had left for the night, so I took advantage of my solitude.
I lowered my good leg to the ground and slowly put pressure on it. Ow. To be completely honest, it hurt. But fortunately, it was bearable. Then, I placed the other leg on the tiled floor. That was a whole other story. Pain shot up my leg and I managed to hold back a yelp. Using my hands to push myself up, I balanced on my good foot.
I hopped.
I winced.
I yelped.
I fell.
I got back up and steadied myself against the bed frame.
My foot met tile.
I grimaced.
I fell.
My hands again yanked me to my feet. Then again. And again.
Pain.
Fall.
Up.
Pain.
Fall.
Up.
Groaning, I rolled back up to my bed, drenched in sweat. It was beaded on my forehead and shoulders, making me feel disgusting. Luckily, my leg didn't bleed. Shower. A shower sounded great. I stretched and grabbed the handle of the dreaded wheelchair and pulled it closer to me. Hurrying to the bathroom, I allowed a small groan of pain to escape my lips from my throbbing leg.
Let me make this clear, showering without standing is hard. After peeling off my sleeveless black shirt, I gently tugged off Will's sweatpants that I borrowed the day that I bled through all of mine. Man, I hated my situation right now. I scooted onto the cool and slick floor of the shower. Great, I still had to turn on the water. I stretched and grabbed hold of the dial. Using it to pull myself up, I balanced on my good leg. Turning the temperature to moderately hot, I used the wall to slide back to the floor. Letting the water rinse away the grime. I imagined my issues rolling off my body and pouring down the drain. After managing to turn the water off, I used my arms to relocate to the bath mat. Sighing, I noticed how bad my leg actually felt. The entire area below the wound was numb, which was okay by me if it meant less hurt. The bite was enflamed and an angry red. Everything else hurt like hell.
He chose that moment to wake up.
